Gold-Stripe Maroon-Minus The Gold Stripes???

Dr. Ron,

My Gold-Stripe Maroon clown seems to have dull stripes. She's been like this for about 8 out of the 12 months i have had her. I've fed some flake and mainly Formula One, until recently. Now i feed a "homebrew" enriched with Super Selco. Is this a reversible process of dulling or is it a diet problem? Also, could it be caused by the lighting (by distorting actual color?): 440 watts of VHO lighting (2 50/50's, 2 actinic blues)?

Hi,

Feeding can certainly change color intensity in many fishes, as can lighting, but there may be other reasons for what you are seeing.
