My good intentioned girlfriend just brought home a red spotted hawkfish. I've been quickly searching and reading about them, but I have not come up with much info. They appear to be reef safe. Does anyone have one, and if so, any advice?
Thanks

Hi:
sounds like a typical hawkfish. These are somewhat reef-safe in that they will NOT bother corals but they will eats small moving inverts(shrimps, crabs), and small fish.
So plan accordingly....

I have a spotted hawkfish for about a year, and he has been an excellent reef fish. Has not bothered any corals or inverts. The only problem is that he hides alot so I dont see him much. But when I do it is neet cause they do have an entertaining personality. IMO your girlfriend made an excellent choice!
