Hi all,

I am new to this forum and just finished reading Eric's artical in the new Reef Keeping issue. Very interesting. One thing that surprised me was the comment about genome mixing between corals from different locals. To this point I saw coral cross-breeding as more akin to animals (meaning harder and less likely to be successful) but the comment inthe artical made it seem more like plant cross-breeding. Does anyone have any further information ont his topic?

I must also add that I was truly shocked to find out that after a grant proposal Eric was met with someone saying that he thought it "impossible to grow corals in captivity". That line shows just how much work there is to be done in educating the public, especially if scientists are still unaware of what has been going on for 20+ years.

Overall I thought it was a wonderful article.
