View Full Version : August meeting

The August club meeting meeting will be Sunday the 15th. I had planned to host this meeting but after having two tanks loose seal & empty into the floor in the last month I'm not going to have things put back together in time. Would anyone like to volunteer to host or suggest a location? I'll plan on hosting the September meeting.

I wouldn't mind, if you all are interested in seeing a DIY, seat of your pants, type set up. I am 30 miles from downtown though, I understand if thats a killer. (I do have a hot tub and satellight TV though) ;)

You can come to the next meeting & sign up there & get to meet some of us. You can go to Emerald Bay & pick up a membership form & mail it in, or if you would like me to mail or fax you a form send me a PM with your info.

Welcome to the club.

Hi Kevlouie
What direction out of town are you? Think we can all fit in the hot tub?

West on 70 from Bellevue...mapquest

http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?country=US&countryid=US&addtohistory=&searchtab=address&searchtype=address&address=1006+Hooper+Rd&city=Charlotte&state=TN&zipcode=37036&search=++Search++

its a 6 person, you're only supposed to stay in for 30 mins anyway, so if we do shifts....

BTW I'm gonna make this meeting one way or the other...(dangit)

I would be glad to do the October one. My house is a little farther out than Kevin's though. Hopefully the corals will have re-colored up by then.

Kevin, I still have your coolers and will bring them back to you at the meeting.

rcmike
07/30/2004, 04:35 PM
Well actually I don't know if that would work well for us. I would rather do a Saturday one if possible and the October one will be on Sunday.

Since you're out my way, I could actually make a Sunday meeting if it's around 6-ish. I get off work at 6 and could be there in about 20 minutes!

FWIW... I have had several new people in the last few days express great interest in joining the club! Unfortunately, either they or we were too busy [at the time] to sign them up, but they'll be back!

Also, and speaking for others, Sean and Jason won't be able to make the next meeting, as we'll all be out of town on store business. :( Just thought I'd let ya know.

I should make it wherever it is as long as we haven't had a baby yet.

Yeah I'd much rather do it on a Saturday night too, are there still people coming who can't do it on Sat night? Sunday is okay, but I won't be drinking (as much) ;)

Either day is fine with me but I don't want anyone left out that can't make it that day. As I'm sure everyone else doesn't:-)

Do we have a time yet for either day????

coralreefing
08/02/2004, 02:39 PM
If everyone is leaning toward Saturday meetings we can change to that but early on we were pretty well split so we'll need to get a consensus on what suits the most members.

coralreefing
08/02/2004, 02:56 PM
I've been letting the host set the time.

Kevlouie
Are you still willing to host on a Sunday. Last month's meeting was on the East side so meeting on the west side this month would be fair. Then for next month I'm on the north side....

kevlouie
08/02/2004, 03:30 PM
Sure I'm game. Sunday is fine unless everyone prefers Sat.

I have no specific choice. I am there either day.

We try to alternate meeting nights between Saturday and Sunday every month for people that can only come one night or the other.

Would you like to set a time for Sunday's meeting?

I'll bring some of the club donations for door prises. Thanks again to Robert, Joe, Hagen & SEACHEM.

Theres a mapquest link above...do you guys know where White Bluff is? Its basically west on Hwy 70 from Bellevue, but its quicker to go 40 to the Pegram exit and cut over to 70 on McCory Lane and go west to White Bluff. The 2nd stop light in town is at the McDonalds/Cee Bee and you turn right onto Hwy 47. About 5 miles you will see Creek Wood High School on the left, turn in and follow the road around past the school and to the stopsign at the football field. Turn right and go past the field and I am the 3rd house on the right. Its a white house and there should be a green expedition out there. Yeah I will fix something more substantial than chips, but I needs to know how many peeps wiil show.

I will bring something if needed.

kevlouie
08/15/2004, 09:46 AM
I've got about 8-10 burgers, a pack of hot dogs, packs of buns (hotdog and burger) reg chips, and nachos and salsa/cheese

could use beer and cokes/sprites, or really anything else including more of what I have, hard to judge how many will be there, I was figuring on about a dozen call ahead if you all want 789-5601

Kev. Thanks for having us over, had a great time, food was good, your tank looked great , and a special thanks for the frag, and the green brillo pad. P.S. It sure was nice to get home early enough to put the new corals to bed,and write this before the clocks strikes 12:00 .

Yep, we had a great time also. We would like to host the October one if it isn't taken up. The only catch is we would have to do it on Saturday instead of Sunday. My wife is off every other weekend and after October she is working the second weekend of the month for several months. (did that make sense? I think I confused myself)

kevlouie
08/16/2004, 08:04 AM
Woohoo! Thanks to everyone. I really enjoyed having everyone out and wish it had been longer. Sorry I don't have one the most impressive tanks you will ever see, but one day......

Kevlouie,
I thought the tank looked great, especially considering it crashed not too long ago:-)

rcmike,
I have to ask my wife every week when she works. Even if she's allready told me three times. " Yea sweetie, I heard you...what did you say?"

Thanks Chris, it would have been essentially a bunch of barren live rock if it hadn't been for E-bay, and thanks to all you guys who offered to help, I was really too afraid to contaminate anyone elses tank with those pesky dino's (and whatever else was nuking my tank). I think I may ask one of the moderators to move that thread over here and I may post some recovery pics.

Hi kevlouie
We had a great time, thanks for hosting. I agree with fishdoc, the tank looked great. All you need is a few more frags & we can all help with that. Since I just got a taste of what a tank wipeout is like I can guess what that felt like. Make sure you come to the next meeting & I'll have something for ya.

Thanks for offering to host & October would be great. You can pick the weekend, day & time. We try to use the alternating schedule to make meetings accessible to everyone but we want to be flexible enough to make it easy for people to host. PM me with the date you select & we'll get it set up. We can give out directions at the Sept. meeting & by E-mail. I plan to start taking pics. at the meetings for the web site & we don't want pics. of our homes & families posted in open domain with addresses.

I can help with picture taking, as well. I have a pretty good camera and the software to shrink it easily. Let me know.

Hey MTRC, we've done a "pot-luck" for our last 2 mtgs in ETRC and it's really working good. Less hastle/expense for the host and more snacks vs plate full type meals. Fruit, veg, cheese, cold cut trays, etc are easy to pick up on the way and really help the host because they already have to clean the house and tank before you come over! Oh yea, 2-3 frags for the door prizes made a big hit! More winners and more sharing...

Hi Squeak
Thanks for the input. Finger foods sound like a good idea, keeps everyone more mobile than a sit down meal. Also minimizing pressure on the host is very important & something we should work on.

kevlouie
08/17/2004, 12:06 PM
Man Chris you were right about that salsa getting hotter as time goes by, phew!!! I love it. I had very little pressure on me, so it wasn't so bad, I hated everyone had to go before I detailed every screw up and response to it I have had.
