I first noticed these things attached under my base rock when I would restack. They have now spread to the back of my HOB filter. I hope the pictures are clear enough. They look like larvae of some sort. any ideas?

It is hard to tell from the picture but they look like a kind of sponge. I can't remember the name but they are kinda egg shaped and have little fuzzy hairs on top.

i'm trying to get a better pic. If they are that sponge does it make sense that there are so many? Is it not a nuisance? I don't like 'em..they look like maggots.

If they are what I think they are they are harmless. I had lots of them in my sump and in overflows and such. They are kinda ugly but mine went away after a while.

Sycon! That is the name of them. If you search for sycon several pictures come up.

Not sure about ID, but timing is is about the same as when I had an outbreak.
My answer was to send as many as I could to MSD. They seemed to do no harm, but they sure slowed down the overflow rate from my tank.
Existance seemed to go away on it's own.

One person described theirs as looking like rice. I think that's a safe description. Makes me wanna pass on chinese food for awhile.
