There was a thread on RC about those tubes.

I theory it's a good idea, but I'm not sure you'd be happy with the spectral look. It would be like tossing on a bunch of 65k lights on the tank. I may be a tad off, not sure.

your stuff would grow nice but this far north of the equator i think you would still need some supplemental lighting but your variety would increase

That's kinda my thoughts as well (supplemental lighting), but just think, for ~$600, you'd have FREE lighting that wouldn't need new bulbs ever. Plus, I thought they were just cool, anyway.

600 for a lifetime of light is super cheap, just make sure you really like where the tank is
