Hello and welcome, several friends have come together to form a new club in atlanta...we are looking for members and vollunteers.we hope to make this an educational fun club to be shared by all. when we have enough interested members together, we will set a date for a meeting and decide on a location. i am heavy into sps corals, but hopefully we will get a wide variety of reefkeepers and fish only hobbiests.

please feel free to email or post any ideas or questions

thanks and have fun

how do saturday morning meetings sound? 4th saturday of the month? and we are searching for a semi permanent location within a 10 mile radius of 85-285 on the northside. we need a closed door situation . maybe a restaurant? (breakfast, coffee) as far as club direction we want to have the entire club make all the decisions, keeping everyone on the same level

what has been tossed around is keeping it friendly and fun. we will have to have some kind of responcible vollunteers eventually . one thing we will definately have.... all the decisions will be directly voted on by the entire club. if a bod becomes nessesary for non profit status, they will meet every three months for a financial disclosure and to put nessesary things to the club for a vote. all the club business will be handled on an open forum....no hidden agendas ... i have done some research and it seems all of the large clubs i have talked to have done very well with everyone getting along amicably

One more thing and I will stop for a while. I have heard that some other clubs have monthly meetings and do it a different member’s house every month. Buy doing this we would get a chance to see everyone’s tanks, plumbing, design, and give everyone the ability to ask questions and see new ideas.
This is just another one of my crazy ideas, but I personally would love the opportunity to see your tanks in person.

I am interested as well but don't understand why there is such a bail out of ARC. I hate politics but what really happened. It feels like a duplication of efforts in trying to form a separate club. I am obviously new to the scene and don't reaally understand the dynamics. Maybe I never will.

wasabi
07/21/2004, 12:01 AM
i dont think there has to be a bail out, just a choice. i sincerely hope we become an original . i have been a proud member of the atlanta reef club for several years, and i hope to always be. i think our goal ought to be to keep things as simple as possible.

daytona955
07/21/2004, 12:35 AM
Well said. I will proly keep my ARC card and status. I won't be able to make meetings for this club any time soon. But maybe in the future that might change. In fact if they stay at 10:30 am I probably will never make them. When I do have a Saturday off, I never wake before noon!

I am interested in joining as well. Although I am relatively new to the hobby, I have one FO tank and been bitten by the NAT (Need Another Tank) disease, so I have set up another 120G system to be a reef system. Phishschtick was kind enough to give me a tour of his set-up recently. After seeing his set-up, I now firmly believe that my when I am working with the builder for my next home, I am going to have him plumb a drain and return line to every room of the house which terminates in the basement.
