Lighting Help/Ideas

I'm getting ready to set up a 60X24X24, 150g tank. I have two Reef Optix III+ pendants now with 250W DE HQI, with a Blue Wave ballast. My plan is in the future to have SPS and clams. Should I ad another MH or actinics, how deep will actinics penetrate? Which bulbs for the MH, 10K, 14K, 20, and which brands? If I ad actinics how many 2 or 4, 60" bulbs, and which bulbs.

Well, you can keep the two hqi's, that would probably be enough, keep the lower light sps (monti's, proccilapora, etc) to the sides. i would probably go with a 10k.
and for Actinics, i would get an icecap 660. have 4 four foot bulbs on that thing, stagger them. I would probably get two actinic whites and two actinics, URI's. That would be some great color.

that is exactly what i do and preach.


shawn.. no chance you have any VHO end caps lying around.. i need to add some bulbs to my 440. :) i don't mind sodering them in myself...

ya, i'm sure i have some laying around.

malegolf: but, i would definately go with 4 vhos, it would add a bit more light to the sides of the tank
