hey guys, I'm starting up a q-tank so I can up the amount of LR I have prior to obtaining any corals and such. I only have a few fish in the display tank now, but I want to be careful not to let a mantis in or other preadator type. What else do I need to look out for? Have you guys ever had the LR shipped to the airport here and am I missing something? It seems like an incredibly good deal compared to what I'm use to seeing. thanks, casey

from the TBS site...

"The best way to ship rock and sand is on the airlines as it is a lot less expensive than Fed Ex. Typically you can ship up too 100 pounds to the East coast for about $30.00 to $50.00 depending on where you live. To the West coast runs $60.00 to $75.00, again depending on where you live. You must pick up your shipment at the airport air freight department of the airline we ship on. Anything over 100 pounds is charged the minimum 100 pound rate, plus a per pound rate, depending on how much it weighs. You must pay for the first 100 pounds even if your shipment does not weigh the whole 100 pounds as all the airlines has a 100 pound minimum charge,"

I had 40 lbs of TBS rock shipped to the Nashville airport for $200 plus $40 for shipping.

What I did was not stack the rock until I caught the 2 mantis I got.

I had several gorilla crabs that where easy to catch as they got bigger. They are greedy and the coke bottle trap worked for me!

Yea, Northwest gave me a quote of .49 cents per pound on getting my Fiji order from LAX to BNA, and .39 cents per pound on my orders coming into Miami. FedEx, and UPS was talking about $50 per box for about 10lbs.

Southwest has good rates too.

I think mine came on Southwest. The guy at the terminal was very cool. I got there a little early and told him what I was waiting for. He didn't wait for the boxes to make it to the receiving terminal, he was a reefer too and went and found my boxes so I could get them home quick!
