Hello all
I have a 65g tank fish only.It has been set up for four months.I cycled it useing the fishless cycle method.I added a Picaso trigger and a flame angle about one month ago. Both are doing great.I feed using S.F Bay brand mussle and Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef and Oceon Nutrition supper Brine shrimp.
Tank set up is as follows.
65g tank
Prizm protien skimmer
Penguin Bio wheel 170
40 pounds crushed coral substrate
about 50 pounds base rock
The tank parameters are as follows
amonia-0
nitrite-0
nitrate-up to 5 ppm befor water change 0 ppm after 25% change
pphosphate-0
ph-8.3
temp-76-78
specific gravity- 1.024
Now the question is what would be some suggestions for tank mates. If I can have any more.I know the trigger will get about nine inches long. And the angle will be about four inches long.
These fish are awsome and I was just wanting to know from experts if I can add more and if so some suggestions for what, and when.
And while i'm at it I will ask a few more questions.
I plan on adding some Fiji live rock to the set up I have heard this is good for the tank and fish ,will the trigger bother it too much is that question?
And if any of you see any problems with my set up please let me know.
Books I own are as follws
The Marine Aquarium Book(I beleive this is by Nick Dakin)
The New Marine Aquarium
Both are full of great info But I need your help to see if I put it all together right.Understanding info and using it can be tricky this is my first salt water tank and I want to be good to my charges.
Thank you all in advance.

I would invest in one more book :) Buy "Marine Fishes" by Scott Michael. It is a great book, and will give you ideas of fish that are compatible.

With your picasso trigger, you are going to be limited to the fish you can keep. It is recommeded that picasso triggers be kept with fish similar in size to avoid potential confrontations. I couldn't recommend you add another large fish to that size tank.

The flame angel needs a mature tank with very abundant algael growth on the live rock to thrive. The survive best when they can graze constantly.

getting adequate tankmates in your current setup will be tough. none particularly come to mind. possibly one mean damsel???

as the trigger grows, it will become more destructive and more likely to chew your LR into LS. :worried2:

the book brian recommends is very good. i would also highly recommend it.
