For all the people that were interested here is the name, number, and address of the shop where I buy all of my acrylic.

Team Plastic Inc
3901 W 150th St
Cleveland, OH 44111-5810
Phone: (216)426-2280
Fax: (216)426-2283

When you go to the shop be sure to ask what scrap they have for sale. This place counts scrap as anything that it has cut from a stock 4x8 sheet. I think it is $1.50 lb clear and $2 lb color.

Also here is the link to the circle cutter that I use.

The Model 200 is the one I use.

No problem Ron. I am going to be building the sump for my tank this weekend as I am really getting tired of these bubbles from the skimmer. I have 2 6" diameter tubes, 14" long each that you can use for the skimmer and reactor. You only need one for the skimmer as you can cut it into a 8" and a 6" piece. The 8" being for the first riser and the 6" for the collection cup. The other tube can be used for your calcium reactor. I will be going over to Team Plastics in the morning and will let you know what they have available.

Larry

ps. If you get tired of that 250lb rather 250 gallon tank, let me know.

The new number for the shop is:
216-251-8270

Ask for Sherrel and let her know that Larry Summers sent you.

Also I am going to be purchasing a full 4x8 sheet of 3/8" acrylic. If anyone would like to go in on the sheet please let me know, as I will only need half of it. I can get the full sheet for $128.10 and we can split the cost. I will be picking it up this Friday.

Thanks

Larry

Do you happen to know off hand if they sell acrylic tubing? I'm looking for 4.5" and 6"....possibly 8" also. I'll call them tomorrow, but just wondering if anyone knew. That is a great price on 3/8" sheet too! McMaster wants over $211 for the same thing! Are they walk-up friendly, or do you just call and order and go pick it up? Some places are kind of unfriendly if you just show up.

These people are very friendly. If you call just ask for Sherrel. If you walk-in anyone will help you (Most likely Bill). And they will work deals with you if you think the price is too high on acrylic or tools. They do special order tube but you would be better off ordering from MCMasters unless you plan on getting a long length. Reason is they have to order the tube in and unless they have some scrap around they want to sell as much of it as possible. Their price is however cheaper than MC on tubing if you compare it per foot.

Oh and the 1/2" sheet is $220. I would rather go with the 1/2" but if no one else wants any I will have to go with the 3/8"

Rebirth of this thread.

I have a new place to get acrylic.

Total Plastics Inc.
17851 Englewood Dr.
440-891-1140

They have Spartech Polycast (very good) sheets (4x8) for:

3/8" $138.05
1/2" $185.15

Very good prices!

They also sell tubing but it is a bit costly.
8" $42.80 per foot
12" $115.34 per foot

Ask for Jenny and let her know that Larry referred you. She is a very nice lady to deal with.

The stuff at Team Plastics is good (Plexiglass G) but they are raising prices.

Everybody is raising prices. Acrylic prices have gone up 3 times in the past 100 days! Mostly due to oil prices and demand.

Total is a good place, I order all my acrylic from them. I had a bad experience with Team, so I found another supplier.

Fade. How long does it take to cut a 12" flange set with the laser?

fade2black
08/16/2004, 05:22 PM
Haven't cut one for 12" yet, but for 6" tubing (8" diameter flange) takes about 13 minutes including the o-ring groove. So my guess is about 15-17 minutes.

Ok. Are you ordering any of the Tee eliminators any time soon? If so let me know. I would like about 50-60.

Ok. Will do. I may need 3 sets of 12" flanges. I could do them with my router and jig, but would like to see how they look with a laser.

Yes Delvies has the 1/2" for $179.00, but the shipping makes it more expensive.
Total Plastic is right across the street from the UPS in Middleburg Heights.

Just to add, I have yet to find ANYONE that can beat McMaster-Carr on cast acrylic tubing. I have found places that will match their price, but if anyone knows of a place that will beat their price, I would like to know.

I'm looking for a better price than $23.21/ft for 6"OD, .250" wall and $20.71/ft for 4.5"OD, .250" wall.
