I've seen 25 micron bags, but they're made out of felt (eeew...) instead of mesh. However, I wasn't sure if 100 micron size was a good size as a sump prefilter?

Any ideas?

what was the 100 micron bag made out of? I work for a paint manufacturer and we use the same type of bags that the fish industry uses to stain our paints. Most of the bags that I have seen were felt, and we also use felt to strain our varnishes with due to the viscocity of the varnishes. Now with paint it uses the mesh kind becase the viscocity of the paint paint would clog up the felt bag too quick eventhough it is the same micron size. If that makes any sence.

Loser,

Almost sounds insulting doesn't it? 100 micron polypropylene monofilament mesh.

Do you have any pics of a "head on" shot of your tank?

Love 'em!! I've tried the 10k Ushios and the 10k XM's...just didn't like it.

Is that a Purple Tang I see in one of your pics? You're my favorite reefer already. TeeHee.

Hey Anthony,

Let me know when/if you get ready to order the filter bags. I would like to try one on my overflow. My tank still has a lot of junk floating in it :(

John,

I paid for the auction already. I just ordered one to see if it would work. I'll let ya know when it arrives. If it fits in my holder, you could buy it and stick it in your sump as I'll be gone for 2/3 of June. Plus I'm not thinking my sump will be up and running before we leave. The link to the bags is below.

Anthony,
I get my bags at Exotic Tropicals in Rogers. I use one on the return and one for the skimmer output. They seem to be felt and mesh, they have a draw string. He charges $15 for the (you can get them cheaper on the net but I think it is good to support the LFS, specifically the good ones)bag. My tank has never been clearer.
