See http://www.fmas1955.org/annual_show/annual_show.html

Has anyone been to one of these shows? I was thinking about driving down on the 22nd, but wanted to find out what if it was worth the drive (I live up in Boynton). Anyway, if anyone has any insight on what the show might have to see and do...(I have been to the museum once already).

Thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim,

As one of the co-organizers of the show i can give you some insight on what we are going to have at the show. :D

There will be over 15 vendors with tank setups as well as drygood displays. One vendor is setting up an 800g tank. Vendors will be able to sell livestock during the show, but it will not be able to be picked up till end of show on Sunday.

We will have more then 50 club member tanks on display.

We have speakers on both Saturday and Sunday:

Mike Paletta 10:30 am and 4:00 pm Saturday only
Edith Widder Saturday 1:00 pm and Sunday 11:30 am
Sanjay Joshi Saturday 2:30 pm and Sunday 1:30 pm
Julian Sprung 3:30 Sunday only

Admission for the show is 10.00 per person and this includes the Exhibits and speakers as well as the admission to the IGFA Musuem.

I hope that helps a little. Please let me know if you would like more information.

Thanks

Thanks Missy. Just curious, are the vendors local?

A majority of the vendors are local to South Florida, but normally we do have some that are out of state.

As far as being able to take livestock purchases prior to the close of the show on Sunday, the best advice I could give you now is wait to see how things play out. The display tanks will need to remain full till 6pm Sunday which is the closing time for the show.

As of this year tickets are only available at the door. It is something we are looking into for next year though.

Questions are definitely something we suggest. However please leave their brains for those of us that would like to see them come back for future talks. :D

Just a reminder: Even though livestock cannot be picked up till Sunday afternoon, Vendors are still allowed to sell it throughout the show. It just needs to be held so the tanks remain full. So you not only will miss out on all the speakers by coming Sunday afternoon but you may miss out on all the cherrypicks as well.

True- so I'll come two days.
But in my experience there are always some excellent last minute bargains at any type of trade show. Getting forty/fifty cents on a dollar is often prefferable to reloading and returning a bulky or fragile item.

Thank you so much for the insight and helpful tips for this aquaria gala...

Sooooooooo, your saying he may be a surpise guest speaker huh... Way COOL...

That was very cute Missy.. I promise to leave some grey matter for future talks...

Did ya ever see so many Clownfish under one roof before??

I'm thinking mostly of the tank with 100+ Onyx Perculas (or whatever they were) and the one just inside the entry with 10 of every variety Clownfish known to man?

Makes you wonder how many newbies are going to be telling LFS clerks "Yes you can too keep 100 Clownfish together- I saw it at the Marine Show!!!"

That aside it was an excellent display!!
Congrats to all those locals who showed, placed, and won.
