I am trying to figure which one small fish I will keep in my six gallon nano, and would like to know what everyone else has had and succeeded, or failed, at keeping and why. :D Thanks

I have a mated pair of True Percula clowns.

2 true percs. Perfect size. They don't require alot of open swimming space compared to other fish.

I have two black Amphiprion ocellaris now ...

Once I had only one of these guys and a Pseudochromis diadema (diadem dottyback) but I didn't like the fighting all this time. Not to say that the fighting was really bad all anything .. just that well .. they didn't really like to be in each others space and in a 8 gal tank that is all the time

I got the dottyback out (sheesh! what a task that was let me tell you!) and then bought the smallest ocellaris I could find. It has taken a while but they seem to be best of friends now, and the tank is much more peaceful to look at :)

I've got a percula clown and a royal gramma. I've noticed some bluffing taunts (mouth wide open for the royal gramma and some shimmying by the clown) but other than that happening every once in a while, they mostly get along.

I have a tomato clown! (A. frenatus).

If I add anything to my 12 gal (that is a big IF), it would probably be a neon goby or a firefish. My tomato is very much the "star" of my aquarium... and he knows it!

12 gal: cinnamon clown, domino damsel, yellow damsel
10gal: juv. coris wrasse, diadema dottyback

I had a randall's goby in the 10 gal that went carpet surfing. He wouldn't pair with the orange pistol shrimp in there. I replaced him with another one, and he tried like the devil to pair up with the pistol, and was torn to shreds....guess the pistol is a real loner. The poor little guy lost his dorsal sail, and tail within 10 minutes! Didn't survive 3 days in the hospital tank: couldn't stay level or navigate without his tail.

Randall's gobies are very cool: white with vertical orange stripes, and yellow/black "eye-like" spot on the dorsal fin: the wife called him our little goblin.

My LFS had The Randall's in a 6 gallon, along with a Green Band Goby : Mountain Dew yellow/green, with thin stripes and a red head (See a pic here @ Premium Aaquatics: . VERY COMICAL PAIR for a small tank & perfectly docile.....will probably go with this pair again when I set up my 7 gal cube. Yellow Tail and False Perc in a 10gal. The yellow tail still likes to raise his fins and poke at the perc every now and then, but the perc is starting to give it back to him a little, FINALLY! =) They've been together for about a month now.
