Hey guys I'm a newbie trying to get my tank started
Looking for anyone that would be willing to donate a cup or two of sand. Would be willing to pay a small fee plus shipping to fayetteville, or if anyone is local
Thanks
You are welcome to pick up a couple of cups from me (in Raleigh) if you want...
wade@reefs.org if you are intersted.
BTW - Are you on the ncfrag listserv? You can ask there and get more attention. www.coralfrag.org

Rob, there is a site here started by a reefer called bomber.

It's an interesting read, and as a former proponent of DSB's I can tell you that I'll NEVER have another one. I am in no way knocking anyone for having a DSB, but it is good to read what some have to say about it. Mine didn't do so well in the QT tank and I just had a damsel that I didn't feed in there for the longest. How did I have to battle cyano? In my main tank, I have a thin CC bed that I vacuum every water change and have NEVER had a problem algae outbreak. FWIW!
I've used a DSB since 1998 and have never had an issue with it... I have replaced portions and have removed portions due to tank switches, etc.... but again, never once had a problem and have a very healthy tank.
The balance of pros and cons doesn't weigh well with me as far as removal of the DSBs.

I was just relating my experience. I found it very hard to maintain. My skimmer was crazy about it. Now, it has little to do. I'd like to check you out one day Wade and get some SPS frags. :)
Frags I have tons of!
I'm actually going to be converting to a slightly larger tank and (if you are part of ncfrag) offering up lots of them to the group... because I know I will make piles of them in the move.

Just thought I'd toss a couple pictures out...

OK, I'll take 'em! JK!
Dude, under the 20kK's the seriatapora hystrix looks freaky! I also like the interlaced capricornis.
when is the next ncfrag swap? and anything ever come out on the big event where we were going to have vendors etc?

Wow Nice Pics
Thanks Gremraf.
The "big event" is still in the early planning stages. I'm working hard to get things settled so that it will happen (so if you have time and are willing to help, we could use it). I'll certainly pass that information along as it becomes more available.
