I have a 100gallon tenecor aquarium with a 5inch sand bed and 75lbs of live rock. The tankmates are
Bangaai cardinal
2 pyjama cardinals
Flame cardinal
royal gramma
coral beauty
I've had my y.h.jawfish for two weeks now and he is often found on the sandbed in full view with no cover.
There is tons of rubble in my sandbed and he has peaceful tankmates.
Will he eventually make a burrow or did I get a lemon.
My last yellowhead was bold and would feed with the other fish at the top.
Lost him to a mantis.

No,
Right now it's sitting in the back corner of the tank.
It's healthy ,just freaked out.
I am trying to target feed him but to no avail.

is the mouth damaged, torn, or discolored? if so, explain...

is it eating? if so, what...

is it getting harassed (most notable the dwarf angel)?

have you offered a prebuilt jawfish condo?

any starfish in the aquarium?

have you caught and removed the mantis?

No stars,He looks extremely healthy.
Received the angel same time as him, angel is very passive for now.Yep the mantis have been out for about a year now.
What would make a good condo?my gosh he's got 75 lbs of live rock and tons of rubble that my gorilla crabs busted off the gulfview rock.
This is my last try with jaws ,really love them and miss the top feeder very much. Those blue highlights are awesome.

didnt mention if he was eating...

try making a condo and seeing if he accepts it. since you already have a DSB, try this out:

2" piece of PVC. cap one end. toss a 90 elbow on the other end. into the 90 place a 2" to 1" reducer or even a 2 x 3/4" reducer. stick 1" PVC (or 3/4" if you went that route) into reducer. you'll want this to stick out of your sandbed so cut the length appropriately.

take the whole contraption and bury it into the sandbed (note: this will not be easy). the object is to have only the 1" pipe to stick out of the sand but not by much - perferably flush with the sand or 1/4" above. you can then pile up rubble along the pipe to hide it.

i'd allow the jawfish a day or two to find it.

besides that, i don't really no why it wouldn't be trying to dig a hole. it may still be stressed still (the world without a home can be frightening).

Right now he's under the bracket that fell off the heater.
He just ate some angel formula frozen. All my fish love that stuff.
Will get started on the condo.
Thanks Henry
