I have been to the two in monroe and highly recomend them. and i have been to three in shreveport also, and i did not include the pet co's....... shreveport is fun because the casinos are there lol and the food is excelent at the horse shouse.......

There are two lfs in Jonesboro. Tropical Paradise on Highland Dr. has some decent things every now and then, but the owner is one of those " Sure it will be fine under normal output lights" kinda guys, you know, anything to make a sale. I try to stay away from there. Best Pets is the other one and although the owners knowledge is less than par, he is honest and the prices aren't too bad. He also owns Tropical Adventures in Paragould. The best lfs within driving range of me is Kermit's Reef in Memphis. The prices are a little higher, but the selection and knowledgable staff make it worth the trip.

Hopefully the two guys that offered, are working on lists/info/reviews of the LFS. I'll have to check again to see who that was and how it's going. So many new names it's hard to keep it all straight yet.

if they aren't we need to get it done. It starts a little free advertising for the LFS which in turn hopefully helps us. Just like Jerry said "Road Trip" I was hoping we could take some mini field trips where we could carpool and such and travel together. getting a little sponsorship would be alot easier if I walked in with over 1/2 dozen members/customers. Plus I'm just nosey and curious.

NSAquatics is the only place I've been to in the state. I wouldn't even know about these other places if it weren't for everybody. I really want to get to some of these others.

NSA seems to be a decent store. They don't carry LS anymore which irritates me. They do have TBS LR but it's quality is not what it was when I got mine from their first batch. They carry what I consider a decent amount of Livestock. However, you don't find alot of rare pieces. In comparison to how others talk about LFS, they seem pretty above avg about honesty and advice. Not many places will advise you that they are having a bit of ICH and not to purchase any fish. Or that the selection your starring at was part of a damged shipment they received. They had alot of great ideas when the store changed ownership/name/loc but I haven't seen any of them go into effect. Especially the website, it's actually gone downhill.

LOL ok ok

Monroe Louisiana is about three hours south of Little Rock...actually there is west monroe and acrost the oauchita river is Monroe....In west Monroe off of 2417 cypress street is Aquatic Solutions owned by Dave and Ann Howard....there phone number is 1-318-388-3649 they have a very nice shop, clean neat and always stocked with tanks and lights, they have a good selection of fish and corals mostly softies and lps....they keep there corals under halides a big plus for me.....from time to time they will have an ocassional sps in stock, last time i was there they had a pink birdnest colony for 90 bucks.....

In Monroe there is Exotic Aquatics off of Desiard Randy runs that shop. There number is (318) 343-8307 . They have freash water and salt water fish and corals in stock....Randy will work with you to order what ever you will like, picked up several acro frags from him there.

I have been to a few shops in shreveport la but only once so I cant really comment on there relighibility...but my impressions were good shops mostly they had lots of softies and some lps, sps was on the short side of availibility, but if you happen to be in shreveport hiting the boats for food and gambling then i can get the adresses for you if you like, but there at my home pc at the moment.

As far as the ping bluff shops I have only been there once each....there mostly a soft coral shop since they dont use halides for there coral display tanks, I just love shops that would normally stock sps so i can be suprised whenegver i show up.

But overall the shops in Monroe are some of the best I have been to thus far, and if your in the area definitly stop by and check them out and on your way back home your welcome to stop by my house if ya wish just email me and ill give you directions and my phone number.........thats if im not at work....

There are a couple more LFS here in central AR. I have not been to NSA since they opened, but it used to be Aquatic Designs. There is a place that is called The Pet Center in Jacksonville. And another one called Safari Pets in Cabot. TPC has some LPS and some softies. Safari Pets has a good fish selection.

P.S. the rock that NSA has is not TBS rock, its Gulfviews and the dumb asses cure it in the vat with all the other crap. That is why it looks so nasty.

Visited NSA on Tuesday. I picked up about 15lbs of LR & 10g of premix to start another curing vat in the garage.
mcanavan69, that was harsh but you are right. I have to rinse those rocks off good before i put into my curing tank. The ones in my 30g are full of life now. Critters are everywhere. Not sure if they have ever cleaned those LR tanks. Gonna have to get me some joe’s juice next time in there for all the Aiptasia.

I had regular lights on my 30g fuge. I picked up a 48" Coralife fixture that has 4-65w PC. It was a customer that wanted to sell it. All I’ll say is I paid less than 50% of retail. Now I can bring home my polyp covered rock (it's marked sold in one of the top tanks). I’ll pick it up Friday. They had just brought in a used 125g stand and lighting, they hadn’t priced it yet.
