Gulf-View Order

Some of you in another thread had expressed interest in getting an order together for rock from Gulf-View.

I talked to Dale this morning to let him know that a group of us from Nashville would probably be putting an order in for rock either next week or the following week. Either send me a PM or shoot me an e-mail if you are interested so that I can start to work on the logistics.

What we have done in the past is just ordered from the Gulf-View website and then had everything shipped together to save on the shipping. If you get it sent to the airport, shipping is only around 30-40 bucks, so split that a few ways and makes it a lot more tolerable.

I was thinkin next week, OK with you Eric? Since I'm 90% sure the babys coming this week, that'll give me something to do next week while I'm off (besides feed baby and change diapers)

Sounds OK to me, we will plan on sometime next week then. Kevin, I know you so don't worry about it, congrats on the baby too. Now you'll have a couple to chase around now.

Next week due to Kevin's baby on the way this week. I will probably get everyone to put their order in at gulf-view.com's order page early next week and be delivered towards the end of the week. I will e-mail everyone with specifics probably Monday.

Shes here!! Lindsey Lee Louis born at 12:51 saturday night. 7 lbs 8 oz. Prettiest little girl in the hospital (of course I may not be objective).

I think I will be good if you guys want to order on Tuesday for Wednesday delivery, or any time after that, we bring her home Monday, and I should be back at work Wed. Thanks for waitin for me guys!

When and where do we need to pick up the LR? Unfortunately with my line of work I never know exactly if it will be an early or late day. I should be able to figure something out though.

I don't think I will be able to get the rock Thursday so I will just pass on it this time. I doubt I would be able to pick it up in the morning and I don't want you to have to hang on to it all day. I was thinking my wife would be able to pick it up if I couldn't but she is working Wed and Thurs.

Mike, got your rock. It looks sweet. You have a really nice ivory on one piece. Good news/bad news on mantis shrimp. I saw two big (2") mantis on the rock. I caught one. Lots of baby mantis and hairy crabs too. I picked 5 or 6 crabs off both boxes. Looks like we both got a purple gorg too. I think I saw some starfish on the rock, but I didn't know if you wanted them gone so I left them alone. Lots of awesome color. Its in water now.

Sorry Mike, I just got on to see your post. Kev has it.

My rock was great too, not as many snails hitching along as it has been in the past, but had several starfish and even a Cuke laying on the bottom. Looks like my night will be spent stacking rock. As always, I did see a couple of aiptasia's. I saw my peppermints licking their lips over them though.

Also, Kevin...may want to hang onto those hairy crabs if you have a way. I think Kev-Dog was wanting some for trigger bait. I have a few waiting for him when I hear from him.

Were there any feather dusters? I had put in an order for some feather dusters, and a few other things. It was all live stock, no rock.

I can't get hold of Dale, he told me he would be out on the boat all day today. My order was the only thing that was in my box and everybody else's box was labeled seperately, so I assume theirs was too. I hadn't heard from ya, so I had just assumed you hadn't ordered. I will try again later, but you may want to call Dale and see if he received your order or at least make sure he didn't charge your card.

Also, I will post a pic in another thread when I get home tonight. I need an ID on a "thing", it was a hitchhiker. It is about a quarter sized flat slug white yellowish spotted looking thing. I thought it was just slime, but when I flipped it over, it had a mouth on the bottom and then flipped itself back over......weird. Some type of slug or flatworm I am assuming, just going to see if it is good or bad.

Wow! This is some cool rock. I finally got it in the tank and it is awesome. I have it all in a refugium for now to keep a eye on it for other bad hitchikers. I found another mantis also. This one is pinkish and small. That big one is one active bugger. I am thinking of setting up a small tank just for it. I haven't had a chance to go through the stuff that fell off in the bottom of the cooler. I saw several serpent stars and lots of pieces of macroalgae. There were some gross looking stuff in there also. One worm thing that looks just like a leech.(I should know, I found one of those in my pond once!) Thanks again Eric and Kevin.

Well, it looks like my refugium has turned into a mantis tank. I got the rocks out that I wanted in the main tank and put all three mantis in the fuge. It is 30 gal. so I think it will be big enough for all three. I saw the larger one and the pink one today and even fed the pink one some krill. The oculina had its polyps out today and I will try to take some pictures of it this weekend.

Eric, Thanks for making the drops! My rock is sweet too. I have all kinds of freaky things floatin around in there. Feather dusters, Oysters, snails, little what appear to be anemones and even a few crabs. Fortunately I don't think I picked up any Mantis.

I called Dale and left a message thanking him for the quality of rock that he ships.

I'm looking forward to another order in the future!!
