I was wondering where you guys buy your light at? I am in real need of a new setup of pc,vho, or MH and am not sure where the best place to get it would be? Or does anyone know anyone selling this type of setup let me know.

Hey Josh,
If I were going to buy new lighting I would look to one of the online vendors. You should be able to save some money going this route. I have purchased lighting from Premium Aquatics, hellolights(bulbs) and others. But I like the two that I have named. They are both excellent stores with great prices, customer service and in most cases they will price match any other online site. If you have any questions on lighting feel free to email me I would be happy to help if I can. What types of corals are you planning on keeping and are you planning on getting a bigger setup?

Here is the links to both

I LOVE Premium Aquatics.

They have great customer service. I dropped my pH meter in the water 3 weeks after I bought it (totally fried it) and they sold me the hand held part by itself for cost.

Very nice to deal with.

Hello lights seems to have some stuff that PA does not though.

Josh,

If your handy with building things, buy a DIY from hellolights. I built my ballast using one of their kits in one afternoon with my (then) 11 year old son. The price is 1/3 what you'll pay for something already manufactured from an online vendor, and 1/6 what the LFS sells them for. To this day I still look at the ballast and think proud thoughts. Course if there is a great deal on a like new one then get that, ;) thanks Joe.

Would this be all I would need to do a DIY?

Or would I need a fixture and other things?

Also is 125 Dollars a good deal on a used 175w Pendand MH light 10k?

When you talk about the PC's which tank are you going to use them on and what types of corals?

55watts isn't that much light at all and you will still need something to hold the lights (canopy), Endcaps if the ballast doesn't come with them and light clips (to hold the bulbs in place) .

The 175's, who is the manufacture and what type of pendent?
The prices sounds good but I would need the other information to give you any more advise.

Sorry to jack the thread, but I have a lighting question also. Where can I find the 2G11 bases and lamp holders for a good price? I don't see paying $1.50 for a metal clip and $3 for a base. Thanks in advance.

The pendant is a Jalli pendant 175w MH with a usio hamilton gas 10k bulb. It would be going on my new 36g corner tank.

If you want to go 175W MH, I have enough used stuff to put 2 lamps in. Hamilton tar ballasts, mogul sockets, even some bulbs if you're interested. Let me know...
