Eric (and your readers,)

I'm working on a new 525G tank, and have a skylight thread on the lighting/etc board that hasn't gotten too much response, positive, or negative...

I'm in Southern Cal, have a building that stands by itself on a part of my property that has direct sunlight for the duration of the day, and am putting the afore mentioned tank at that room's center. I plan to have around 1200G of total system capacity, and I would LOVE to put a high light transmission skylight directly over the built-in hood of the tank.

Could you weigh in on the "direct sunlight" myths... ie, produces algae (umm, not if there aren't nutrients for the algae in the first place, right,) harmful to coral, wrong spectrum for aquarium species, generates too much heat, etc. ???

Your opinion and advice would be much appreciated.
