Hey Charleston folks, just wanted to let y'all know that Aiken is only about an hour from my house, so I'd love it if any of you could stop by the CMAC meeting at my house on your way back to Charleston. It's not too far out of the way, so please consider. I'd love to have as many people as possible here. Thanks.

Rob, will you have any live rock for sale when we come to your house for the meeting this month? We need to start buying some live rock because we want to start adding it slowly to our 80 gallon. We are wanting to try and get mh lighting for the 80 gallion and switch that to our reed tank. 30g isnt enough room to put all we want. Plus we are wanting to try and get mh lighting so we can have some of the better corals and clams. This also means we will have to get a bigger tank for our fish only tank and when we get that tank, it will also need live rock. Switching tanks and getting a bigger one will cost lots of $$ so we will have to do this step by step.

robwsup

I have live rock in stock. Some fiji, and a couple nice pieces of Marshall Island.

I can make it! Just need a ride! :)

Quicksilver
02/08/2004, 12:40 PM
I am trying to work it out now. Hopefully I can make it. I would love to see the set-up at Rob's. Man, Rob I bet your sitting back going chi-ching$$$$$. Your going to deserve a big dinner(by yourself) after your shop gets raided By everyone. I met another reefer in the Savannah area and turned them on to your website. So hopefully you will be picking up another customer. They seem to be more into the SPS corals. Well, Hope to see everybody if I can make it. I'll let you know when I figure it out. William

P.S. If you do not mind Rob shoot me your address too. I have to come up whether I can make the meeting or not.

I'll take Luke if Jodi doesn't want to go.

Some need to give Jackie a ride. It would be a shame for her to miss this. I can only fit 1 person comfortably in my truck.

Gosh I can't wait!!!

02/08/2004, 03:43 PM
Well what if we use my mom's van?? It will seat 7 including driver???

:wildone:Luke:wildone:

minfinger
02/08/2004, 05:14 PM
I think you better ask mom first. Honestly I don't feel comfortable driving someone else vehicle that far. We could rent a van for about $35 a day.

minfinger
02/08/2004, 07:52 PM
Rob I need that address too. I've got to make up the flyers to send out.

02/09/2004, 06:56 PM
You've got your license now?

Make sure it's cool with your mom man...I don't wanna tick them off, but that would get at least 4 or 5 people to Aiken comfortably. And still have room for coolers.

Simbo18
02/09/2004, 07:15 PM
Permit, I'll ask her tonight, I think she will say yes. Someone with a liscense has to sit in front set though.

Mom says it's ok, but there is a chance it won't happen. My dad is supposed to leave for NY around that time (family rumor) and I will hopfully clear that up tonight when he gets home. I don't think finding out when he leaves will be a last minute thing, but don't hold that to me. But I should know fairly soon.

:wildone:Luke:wildone:

minfinger

There's gonna be like 3 or 4 people with you...Let her know.

Simbo18
02/09/2004, 09:59 PM
I told her it was for car pooling reasons. She MUST know there will be a few of us, but I'll let her know anyways. My dad's on the phone, bussines reasons, so I might have to find out tomorrow when he heads to NY. I'll try tonight though.

Simbo18
02/10/2004, 03:11 PM
Well you could always steal your electirc, water, internet (gotta have RC), and for corals you have us.... So I think you could manage. But I don't suggest it.... just something I would probablly try.:D

Well my boss at work informed me today that we will start working wekends soon. But I don't know when. Thank god there's another guy I work with. WE're going to split weekends and work it out, but I should be able to make the meeting this month.

This just flat out sucks...But hey, I get OVERTIME :D

skipm
02/10/2004, 08:52 PM
Welcome to the club. You should try a shift like mine, 24 hours on and 48 hours off, working every third day makes it a pain to plan around everyone elses 5 day a week schedule. Plus if your day falls on a holiday you get to work the holiday.

Quicksilver
02/10/2004, 08:55 PM
Ditto! 24/7 My schedule is so crazy and forever changing. I cannot plan anything. Holiday? There holidays WOW!! William

minfinger
02/10/2004, 08:55 PM
Well I didn't sign on with this hourly wage to get screwed out of my weekends with my family. That's what's really got me ****ed off. I'm going to check my contract and see what it says about weekend work.

Simbo18
02/11/2004, 10:12 PM
You going to be able to make it Mike?

:wildone:Luke:wildone:

minfinger
02/11/2004, 10:30 PM
Luke...I sure hope so! I think it's going to work out. I already agreed to switch with the other guy and the boss seems to think it's ok.

Simbo18
02/12/2004, 04:18 PM
I got the van!!! But I don't really know how to do this, since I can't drive alone.... I wouldn't be able to just drive to a meeting spot pick everyone up , so I might need some help. If anyone could drive to my house and leave their car here then I would be able to leagly drive. But if someone can't I'm stranded here with the van....:van: Any voulenteers??

:wildone:Luke:wildone:

Will
02/12/2004, 06:05 PM
I'm not "supposed" to drive alone after 8pm, but.... Haha :p Get my advice? ;)

minfinger
02/12/2004, 09:48 PM
Luke, Looks like I'm in for the meeting. I can drive over to your house and ride with you. Is this a date ;) LOL

But we're still working weekends and I won't be going to Charlotte on the 28th :( On the up side, I'm going to get about 10 or 12 hrs overtime a paycheck :D I have to work a full day tomorrow and Saturday to get next Saturday off :D But that's like a buttload of money for me, so hehe.

Hopefully the taxes will come through before the trip to Rob's :)

Simbo18
02/13/2004, 04:22 PM
I guess I need to know who I will be taking and where we will meet up for the initial pickup.....

Hey Charleston folks, do you care if I show up at Rob's? I usually go to the Columbia (CMAC) meetings, but can't make it that night to columbia.

I'll have my 9 year old boy with me.

Rob. Is flash photography allowed?? :D I'm going to bring the water proof housing to show you the awesome power of macro shots. Then you'll be able to get shots of corals in your plywood tank without havning to work around the lights..... you might have to invest in one of these WP cases.

What do you use to upload pics?? A printer, USP cable, strait from the cam?

:wildone:Luke:wildone:

minfinger

I'll try and bring mine too...Water proof up to 15 ft :p

Oh..... So it's not really made to go underwater, but supposed to be able to get wet... I see. LOL!!!;)

Here's mine. http://216.25.78.123/bigpics/Canon/8486a001.jpg

:wildone:Luke:wildone:

minfinger
02/14/2004, 01:50 PM
No...It's made for both.
Underwater Depth: 16.4 ft/5m.

It does Panaranmic shots, regular and oversized. I had it down to probably 15 to 20 ft when we were on our cruise.

Simbo18
02/14/2004, 02:02 PM
I'm sure that thing has the 2-3x stress level on it. So you should be able to go to 30-45 feet while nearing it's stress level. :D That's actually not a bad distance since all the more interesting things are in that depth....

:wildone:Luke:wildone:

minfinger
02/14/2004, 02:05 PM
So that in the picture you posted is your housing?

The cooling thing about snorkling was I only had to swim down about 5 to 10ft to get the good shots.

We did snorkle over this wrecked ship, but it was like 20ft of water....Made my ears pop :)

Simbo18
02/14/2004, 02:17 PM
Yeah.... befor I get my diveing liscense I need to learn how to pop my ears...... I can't seem to get the hang of it but I am a awesome swimmer. Can't figure it out.

Yeah, that is my housing. Really neat little thing. Don't worry, you'll see it in person.

if anyone needs an insulated box to put there stuff in let me know and I can bring some extras. we have tons of them here as most lab shipments arrive in them. Just let me know ahead of time so I can round them up .

Rob do you have any use for them, for shipments maybe?? free stuff..

robwsup
02/16/2004, 01:20 PM
If you have any that are 10"x10"x10", smaller or larger is fine, I just don't need the huge ones. What sizes do you generally have?

djangoboots
02/16/2004, 01:25 PM
We get them in ALL sizes. I will keep a lookout for those sizes. I have a couple right now that are in that range though so I will hold on to them for you.

robwsup
02/16/2004, 01:33 PM
I can take anything you have as long as it is less than 12"x12"x12", but is big enough to at least hold a couple bagged frags. Seriously though, if you have a 100 boxes in this range, I'll take them all, and make it worth your while in trade corals.

djangoboots
02/16/2004, 01:55 PM

Unfortunately I don't think I'm gonna make it to the meeting either. I've been thinking a lot about it, and I'm just afraid I'd be cutting it too close.
