Tim,

I guess this answers my question from the last thread about who you are getting your rock from. If I remember you last told me you are getting a 125Gal tank? You are going to need more then a 100lbs of rock. Remember the rock is you base for the entire tank, filtration, structure ect... You seen my tank and it has over 80 lbs, in a 55gal that would make for sparce 125gal reef. Just my 2 cents.

It really depends on the rock. I just got 2ea. 40 kilo ( 160+/- lbs.)boxes of Kaelini and it is too much for my 100G. I probably used about 110 to 120 lbs. and my tank is full. Some rocks are lighter or more porus than others which are dense or heavy. I would highly recommend the Kaelini for anyone starting a new tank as the colors and texture are awesome.

Glad to seeyou back. My tank as ordered is 48x21x26 which is a 100 gal. and I will have a 30 gal sump. I went back to the 48" to fit the lights better but made it as wide as I could. The hight will give me a true 24" when filled with sand. I figute with that size I can start with 100-120 lbs. of rock and see what it looks like. I would hate to throw away some. Ha!

Nice size tank! I have the 60" 100G also with a 30G sump. You will like the extra front to back room for your rockwork.
