I just found some bad news, my diamondback golby was not in my tank any more, apparently he had jumped out one of the holes in my hood. Has any one heard of this?

Yep,
I have had these fish jump out of my tank:
3 neon gobies (out of two different tanks one of which was covered except for the tiniest hole)

a psychedelic mandarin (no idea about that one)

a jawfish (didn't know they jump, totally clueless apparently)

There's been a couple of others as well I think. But I can't remember exactly.

I have found each of them dried and crusty around the tank.

It is heart breaking.

I don't know about that particular goby but certain fish are especially known for jumping i.e. jawfish.

The thing is that most fish don't jump if they don't have something scaring them. My jawfish probably got scared by this crappy tang I used to have and then their natural response is to shoot straight up into the air.

That totally sucks man.

ps oneof the websites I have been looking at lists all the gobies as possible jumpers.
