Looks good Mike... When is ETA on the room edition being done? After that is when the real fun begins :)

The addition is actually much closer than it looks. I just got off the phone with the contractor and we finally got the truss calcs out of the city (damn beurocrats, tlking about job security). The guy at the city took two weeks to finally tell us that he wanted the "Engineers of Record" (All that means is that there name is on the original set of plans) to review and sign off on the calcs that other PE's had done and signed off on. At least it's now behind us.

We get the framing inspection tomorrow, which should pass since the guy was already out here and gave his comments, the last one being, "call me when the truss calcs are on-site". Then, we insulate tomorrow afternoon, assuming framing passes, and get an insulation inspection Wednesday. That should pass since there really isn't much to insulate and then drywall. The contractor said probably on Saturday since the Drywallers are chomping at the bit to get it done since they are "piece workers". That also gives a couple days for inspector leeway since they aften show up a day late. They will mud and sand next week with an inspection for drywall taping on Monday or Tuesday. After that, no more inspections until it's all done and they are ready for final plumbing, final mechanical and final electrical.

I can't put the tank in the room until the drywall is done, the texture and painting is done and the flooring is put in. My guess is the last week in January, first week in February.

When the tank was delivered last week, my wife just said, "Merry Christmas". I told her it was like having a present that I couldn't unwrap and play with. My closet in my master bedroom is filled with plumbing supplies, lighting, skimmer, kalk reactor, Calcium reactor, etc, etc.

I need to take some pics of the stand that Mitch built and the sump that I got from reefmania, probably do that next week when the room shold look much different.

Just one other tidbit of beaurocratic humor.

I almost didn't pass my rough plumbing becuase the addition is being fed solely by softened water and the inspector though it would be bad for the fish. This conversation is ocurring while he is staring at the RO loop that the plumbers had installed.

The contractor just asked him if he would like to consult with the homeowner before or after he called his supervisor to tell him that his inspector was focusing on the health of fish, not humans.

Needless to say, we passed. Some of these inspectors are really just there to figure out the most creative ways to harrass the contractors. My contractor said that they never get that hard of a time when the homeowners are around, especially in my neighborhood. The former Mayor of Las Vegas lives one street over, three doors up from US Senator John Ensign, not to mention a couple of retired baseball players, a Nascar driver and several prominent Casino execs. The nephew of Joe Pesci chracter in "Casino" is a friend of mine, last name Spilatro. He is a real down to earth lawyer, but his name still means things to certain people here. It's kind of funny. Some of the stories the locals have are very interesting about Las Vegas 20+ years ago. All that has pretty much changed for the better, unless you are trying to get in the Linen Service business or the Liquor Distributor business.

LOL, I know what you mean with having to deal with the county and the inspecters being we just got finished dealing with all of them from our house build. They can be a real pain the ***, luckily we had one incpector that did pretty much the whole job and he was pretty cool he would still pass us if he saw something wrong (just as long it was something minor) so we wouldn't be delayed for a day or two for a quick fix, our grading/health inspector was a PITA though he would fail us for stupid little things.

We have about three or four different inspectors. Most of them are real cool. We just have one that is "goofy". Unfortunately, he is the one to do the final plumbing and mechanical.

Our more recent problems come from the guys at the City, but that should be over with, knock on wood.

There are four separate 20 amp circuits dedicated to the main tank with the ability to easily add as many as I need. The electrical box is located on the other side of the fish room and there is attic space above the fish room so additional circuits would be very easy to install, basically only two holes to feed wire through, and they are already drilled. There are another two 20 amp circuits in the room as well.

The insulation is up now and drywall is going to start either this afternoon or tomorrow at the latest.

I can't wiat.:D
