Ugly growth in tank

Hi guys I just noticed some new patches of a brown to copper color base with white hair filaments. Any idea what it is? See attached picture.

Well PW, I have some of that stuff growing too. It almost looks like some of my other stuff I have in the tank that is encrusting. I got it from Dellrio and not too sure what it is. I think what I have is encrusting corky finger? Dellrio could prolly tell me the name for sure. But I wondered how it got on a rock like 10 inches away and then I remembered clipping some hair algae off that was growing in the middle of the encrusting stuff.

Do you have any of that encrusting corky finger or whatever in your tank? I thought at first it maybe aiptasia since I have never seen it.

pw.. what u have looks more like a fungus of some sort.. not a coral... =) sorry..

now how do ya get rid of them :)

Cause it definitely looks like what I have too :P

Wouldn't be the first pest I have and still have. I still have problems with some wierd algae. It really hard and looks like green fishing line on the rock. But ya can peel it right off.

Oh and another thing, I don't have a pic of it yet. But I have this wierd looking tube thing that has crown on the rock. But instead of a normal feather duster there is what appears to be a snail head peeking out. It definitely is alive since if i take the scraper and tap on it. It goes back into the tube.

Go to the odd critter link I posted above and see if it says how to het rid of them, Or search Dr Rons forum since he's the one who wrote the article.

The other critter you describe- Does it look kind of like a rams horn.- curls around and with a ribbed growth pattern?

I believe it's just a harmless tube worm but I'll have to look up a name when I get back home, I'm getting ready to walk out the door as I type.
