Can someone help me out?
To start, my tank params are: 75g. w/ 175mh & 110pc, ph=8.3, dkh=10, Am=0, Nitrate=0 Phos=0 Temp=83 Calcium=450
2" Sugar Sand bed
I recently got a baby blue Heteractis Malu (Sebae) and it looks healthy except that it recently unburied its foot.
I was wondering if it had to do with it turning almost completely brown.
Size has stayed the same however, it doesnt seem to want to
except food anymore. I was giving it a chunk of fresh dead squid
once a week, but since my peppermints have begun robbing it,
just as its about to finish its meal, it no longer will take the food
completely.
It does however, ingest the food 90% and then spit it out.
Is this anemone merely receiving enough energy from the lights?
It doesnt seem to wander around anymore.
Its just laying there w/ a porcelain crab attached.
hmm....

Update,
This guy is now doing great.
He has re-attatched to the bottom of the tank next to some rock.
I've begun feeding all my anemones at night with much greater success.
They also receive a little less in amount of food.
The sebae has increased in size by almost an inch already.
My BTA, however, is continuing to bleach.
Could my halide be too much?
My BTA chose his spot 15" under, 12" off center of the light on the front glass.
TIA

Your BT will either be fine or die... its not up to you to decide, he choose his spot.. thats what should be best for him... good luck, and no it shouldnt be too much lighting... - perc

Perc-

thanks for the response.
Ive left it alone for the last couple months.
when I first got the BTA, he was going thru a arrested split
Now I have a 2 mouthed critter
All I can really see is his butt though, since hes on the front glass.
I have noticed that during the evening, hes expanded nicely
When the halides come on, he kinda shrivels and covers one
of his mouths as if hes got a stiff upper lip.
It all just becomes character after a while.
Ill be happy if he keeps on stickin.
At least my pepps cant get to him up there.
Thanks.

Hope all is well with your tank.

my H. Malu sat in the corner in the front right side. and then one night i came down and was devisated. i thought i had died. i didn't see it until later that day when the lights turn on. it had burried it self. it's a bright white color and you can't even see it with my substrate. it looks so cool.
