pickling lime

Where can I buy pickling lime? I heard Wal-mart carries this item, I searched and searched but no luck. Can any tell me what department in Wal-mart this is located?

Actually you will find pickling lime in the area where all of the canning/food preserving stuff is, it is usually on the same isle with things like freezer containers and zip lock bags. It is next to things like canning jars, jelly making supplies, etc. The brand name I have always heard people talking about on the boards is Mrs. Wages (the spelling could be off), they have reported excellent results with this brand if available. If you can't find it let me know, I am pretty sure I have seen it locally. Good luck, Skip

I have search in Wal-mart and K-mart and several food stores and found no pickling lime. :(
If anyone is using this product and found it in the lowcounrty could you please direct me in that direction. Thanks

What is the pickling lime used for and how is it used?

Pickling lime is the same as Kalkwasser. They are basiclly the same product (chemically) but the only difference is in price.
