The MH lights that is!!! LMAO

WOO HOO! Screw these PC lights!

To sum it up, I have 1 175W 10K Hamilton, very blue, I was surprised and 1 250W 10K Hamilton, more of a white than a yellow. I really like the 250W color though. Wait until you see it!!

I've got 2 250W 10K Sun Bulbs coming and 1 400W 10K Sun Bulb.

Now I've just got to make some money and find some cheap ballasts.

Anyone got anything lying around they want to scraf for cheap?

Mike

I came across a bulb. It says on it Sylvania 400W Metalarc M59/E R MS400/hor. I heard it is too yellow for a display aquarium. Did not know if these might be of interest to you? Let me know. I'll give it to you if you can use it. You can just hook me up on frags when you get up and running. Let me know if you want it. He might be bringing me another one tomorrow. I never say no when somebody is just giving it to me. Let me know, William

By the way I emailed that guy and he is supposed to be getting back to me with all the prices.

By the way, your PM is full again. You must be a popular guy. William

I don't know. I clear out all but like 5 PMs and it's always full :(????

Sure thing, PM me again, I'll take the bulb and give it a try. I hope it's not one of those bulbs that requires a UV Sheild.

I'll take whatever corals he's got if the price is right.

Your PM said it was full again. Here is a pic of the bulb.

The outer globe on a single ended bulb provides you with the UV shielding you need, its the double ended bulbs that need a UV shield.

On the PMs, check both your sent PMs and PM tracking folders and make sure you set the time to the beginning. RC automatically puts any PMs sent and replied to in folders.

Thanks Skip...I knew it was something like that on the UV.

Will...Does the bulb have anything written on it? Sometimes there's a K rating?

Sylvania 400W Metalarc M59/E R MS400/hor

That is the only writing on the bulb

Another guy on RC told me they were 4000K, but I cannot say for sure. HTH William

Is 4000K good enough? I thought we needed 6500K and up.

I am not sure. I am new to the whole MH. I have been researching and think all aquariums bulbs are 6500 and above. I do not know if that is strictly for the whiter crisper light for display or what. One guy on RC told me it might cause algae blooms real bad. There again I am not sure. But if you find out you can use them let me know. If I here anything else about them I'll let you know. William

I'll take it. I'll try the bulb...Otherwise I'll just get a different bulb somwhere else. Can't hurt that bad.

You usually want 5,500k and above. The 5,500s are supposed to be as close to sunlight as possible and were recommended for keeping clams when I first got into MH but I think opinions vary alot more now. HTH, SKip
