I have had a few soft corals being destroyed possibly eaten. Of course it is likely a hitchhiker, but what?
Zooanthids tops are taken off and a porcelain crab has been slain with the legs and claws laying about the sandbed.

Any ideas?

zooanthids in specific: sundial snails (just search RC or google it and you will see pictures) and angels & butterfly fishes (double check the butterfly, but I'm pretty sure the racoon and some of the long nose varieties do). There are nudibranches that eat zoanthids and soft corals, again a search of RC will give you pictures.

As for the crab, there are plenty of things that could have done that including just plaing ole dying. But that aside, trigger fish and mantis shrimp are a few possible culprits (among many).

hope this helps

Are you sure that the porcelain crab has been killed? Might you be looking at an exoskeleton that was cast off in the crab's last molt?
