I'm picking up my AGA 180 gallon Reef Ready on Wednesday but I still need to get a pump.

Which pump is everyone using and on what size tank?

What kind of flow are you looking for? What type of corals are you going to have in the tank? You could get an Iwaki 55rlt and a couple of Tunze streams.

I have SPS, LPS, softies and clams in my 75 gallon that I will be transfering to my 180 when I upgrade, so I will need some good flow in the tank. I have an iwaki 30RLT on my 75 right now but I hear the larger Iwaki's are much louder do to the addition of the fan.

I have an Iwaki 100 on my 180 and its a bit too much flow for the Overflows , even with the durso's and opening up the slots, I have mine throttled back quite a bit.. probably a 70 would be fine. with a few tunze as capt pete said.. Or even go with 1" SS (Sea swirls)

I have (2) 3/4 SS that I will be using. Have you heard anything on the Blueline pumps.

I have an Iwaki MD70 on my 180. Once I enlarged the overflow slots, I'm able to run the pump "full speed". Not sure you could go with a 100 without intentionally restricting the flow.

ri,
How is the noise level from 70? Do you have it inside a stand or in a basement? Tank is in my living room so I need pump that is not to loud.

Thanks

I'm using two SEN700 submersibles inside my 55 gallon sump. I'm able to run them wide open. I like the idea of having some backup built into the system.

If you go to the sump page on my website you can (somewhat) see the pump. It is located in the basement.

The Iwaki 70 is not too loud but I'm not sure about the noise level in the living room. Most of the noise is from the built-in fan. But then again, ballast fans, cooling fans and the overflows themselves all add lots of noise... Probably enough extra noise to drown out the Iwaki.

Speaking of overflows, you'll want to consider building the Durso standpipes. Here is a shot of mine:

THe new AGA MEGA overflows kit is designed like that I think. I may be wrong but I bought the Mega overflow kit when I got my tank so we will see.

I use a Little Giant 4MDQX-SC (1,380 gph) which I split between my display tank and refugium and it is very quiet. It is actually too strong, and I have it dialed down even tho it is supplying 2 tanks.
