View Full Version : January Meeting

Franks Reef

Hey Guys,

We are in the time of the year where I can make meetings. I am still offering up my place for Jan. or Feb. I did April of last year, so if someone else wants to jump in and host, that's fine. Otherwise, let me know what dates will work for all of you. Friday night, Saturday or maybe even Sundays are best for me. Any time except the weekend right after new years. Everyone let me know your availability and we'll go from there.

I'm looking to host sometime. I would like to have water in my tank first :eek1: at this point that would be amazing. Feels like forever  . So Frank, I'm definitely not looking to steal your thunder for January. February maybe, March more likely, April looks awesome, May if it's not ready then, then I might just decide to make it a freakin terrarium :furious: .

Thanks for offering to host Frank.
I can make most weekends except one per month. In January that is the 10th and 11th and in February it's the 1st and 2nd.
Other than that I would be able to make it barring unforseen circumstances.
As always I look forward to seeing and chatting with you all.

Thanks.

Just had something come up today for the 16th, so I want to test out the 23rd to see how that looks for everyone. The 16th is not totally out. Let me know.

I'll probably be out of town for the 23rd, but I'm just one person so whatever works best Frank.

Frank, thanx again for hosting. Let's try to commit to either the 16th or the 23rd though. I'm sure you'll get a lot of ambiguous responses not knowing exactly which date it'll be. I can make a Friday night, depending on the time. And as Tom said, I'm just one person.

Get together talk about fish, corals, lighting and check out the tank of the host. Ask questions have a few cookies and chips and just have a good time. We try to bring up some kind of formal club topic to discuss. We are fairly new and have not elected any officials yet. We are working on membership cards and we have a web site started. Thats about it, Oh we try and trade corals when we can and we are working on several group buys also.

Hello to all, I am new to reefkeeping and would like to join your club. Unfortunately I bowl on Friday nights and would not be able to make your January meeting. I hope there is a way to participate though.:(

Welcome aboard Arn. While most of the meetings to this point have been on Friday eves, others have been held on other days. We leave that decision to whomever is hosting that particular month.

If you're new to reefkeeping, then hopefully we can help you avoid the mistakes that many of us made. Where from by the way?

I am living the village of Marlborough, not far from rte 9w> I have just recently set up a 90 gallon saltwater tank and at this very point in time I am suffering from New tank syndrome. Things went fine for the first month until I got an algae bloom which seems to be planktonic. It turned my tank an ugly cloudy green and I have been trying to clear it up for two weeks now.

Welcome, Arn.

I had a bad case of green water when my tank got setup, also. I did water changes, carbon, PO4 sponges, etc. Finally got a UV unit set up and cleared it up in about 3 days. What's your source water & salt?

Hey Arn,
Welcome (I welcomed you in our LR thread too). Are you using RO/DI water? Lots of folk experience algae blooms when using tap water (among other reasons). Just one place to start exploring.

Looking forward to the get together,

Hey guys and welcome to all the newcomers. Frank, please send me over directions at your convenience. One of my friends that has a reef tank signed up on RC but I don't think he could find our forums as easily or he is just real shy (not). I will more than likely bring him if that is o.k. Thanks.

What can we bring?
