I have a 125 gallon tank that i use for a fuge. I have 3 250's over it. I've came to the conclusion that this is overkill, and the electric is killing me. currently each lamp is on for 8 hours, but only one at a time to get 24 hours of lighting. I'm considering...

1) t-5, 2 bulb 4 foot strip. I hear the bulbs are expensive to ship if you cant get locally, but they last 2 years at about $25 a bulb. I was also told the can over drive a standard 40W bulb for $8 at home delpot.

2) 3 lights of america, I had one a while a go, but I'm not sure if that will be enought light, I had it on a old 20 gallon fuge.

3) a 4 foot light strip with just 4 40W No, I noticed that Home depot had 65K 40 w bulbs for 8 dollars each.

I would like to keep my lights on for 24 hours. anyone have any input?

I am currently using 1 250 watt Iwasaki over my 100 gallon fuge. Once I get my new tank and convert the 300 to a fuge, I will be using just 2 250 watt Home Depot bulbs (4000K) over the fuge.

I have a 100g refuge that I light up with 4 x 48" NO bulbs. I am not planning on changing the bulbs for another 2-3 years!! I run them 24/7 and stuff grows like there is no tomorrow. I trim out about half of a IO bucket packed full of alage every other week. MH is definately overkill I think.

I am not planning a huge refugium, my first one is only gonnabe about 40 gallon. Do you guys suggest 2 or 4 NO bulbs over top and what kind of bulbs? I only have a LOwes around me so you guys always say you can get it at Home Depot so what about Lowes?

lowes would be the same. 2 NO bulbs should be more than enough.

I'm using a 55gal. 'fuge under my 375gal. display. The 'fuge is lit with two LOA fixtures. Chaetomorpha grows like crazy.
