Carpet Anemone keepers PLEASE read

Why do carpet anemone climb rocks? dont they suppose to burry deep in the sandbed? i have two, one burry deep in the sand, the other attach to the rock and seem to be climbing up-slowly.

Stichodactyla haddoni and S. gigantea live on the sand but S. mertensii lives on rocks.

I plan on getting a gigantea. After drip-acclimating it should I just place it's base in my sand substrate? How does it properily anchor itself down?

I'd just place it on the sand and see what happens. It will either bury itself or move to somewhere it would rather bury itself, just make sure there isn't too much current where you put it in, chances are, it will curl up in a ball and be carried around untill it is out of the current.

Maybe yours wants more lighting...or more or less current if its climbing? Whats your opinion? What does it have now compared to what is wanting? - perc
