I'm setting up a hospital/q-tank (20 gal long). I'm running it 24/7, and I'm keeping one damsel in it. Is it possible to put some kind of sand or substrate in it to look a little better? Or would it mess up the treatments, like copper.

Thanks for your info.

Hi:
thanks for the question.....
i would suggest to you that you leave any substrate out of your quarentine tank. Mainly-- due to the possiblity of carryover contamination from previous treatments.
Even assuming you would change substrate everytime you treated a new arrival, it will be easier on you, and provide a more clean environment w/o sand.
So Unless you are using the sand as the filtration in this tank (which i hope not).Skip the substrate

PS keep the q tank real simple...a 30gal rubbermaid tub, a small sponge filter or hang-on-the back powerfilter. Some water from your main tank (and a heater should it need it)
hope this helps
