Hi there,
I like the pictures of your small tanks. I was wondering how the name originated?

Well,

Nano is kind of an exageration here.

Nano means one-billionth and the word comes from the Greek nanos which means Dwarf.

The tanks are so small in comparison to other tanks (55 and up) that they are considered nanoreefs. Also, in comparison to the real reefs, well, our small tanks are nanos.

HTH,

Carlos

Thanks Carlos,
I like these small versions of a reef creation. I am thinking of building one for my daughter, She wants to learn more about salt water inhabitants. So with my close supervision( actually I will probably be doing everthing). She will have a (nano) aquarium in the very near future.

Kids love to watch hermit crabs & shrimp..they think all the little legs & claws are cool, not to mention their eyestalks. We don't have any kids, but friends' children really dig them.
