Today is Tues. 11/4 and I'm all kinds of psyched. My Lifereef sump/skimmer is being shipped today. Yabba Dabba Doooo!!

Having a 15 gal. high, drilled for a fuge. Crossing my fingers it doesn't shatter. The glass expert is washing his hands of any responsibility. :worried:

T-5 lights are hung and waiting.

RO/DI is sitting in front of my new 50 gallon heavy gauge Rubbermaid top off container.

Thinking I might try water soon :eek1:

I'll keep you all posted,

Russ,

Russ,

Did you go with a Tek light? If so where'd you get it and what bulb combo are you using?

Sounds good Russ! You'll want to let your salt mix for about 48 hours with a heater in it. Longer won't hurt as long as you keep it circulated.

As for the 15 tall, it should not be tempered.

Good luck!!!:D

What are you using for a return pump?

Awesome!!!

Might as well start making water, it will take a little while.

Have you fired the lights up at all yet?

Hi All,

Tom,
Yes, it's the TEK by Sunlight Supply. I got it through Reefgeek. My bulb combo is:
- 2 actinic 03
- 1 blue plus
- 1 11k
- 2 6500k daylight
it's a 54w 6 bulb setup......bright too!! Actinics look awesome.

Bob,
Getting close to water, feel like I just ate and have to wait an hour before I go in though.

Frank,
15 is not tempered. Still waiting for his attempt at drilling. He is skittish and says he'll do it when he gets the nerve. He's weary of the hole being drilled so close to the top of the tank. Least amount of support there.

Ian,
I don't have a digital cam. I have pix. Showed you them at your house, but the setup is a whole lot farther along now. I'll try to find a digital cam and get some posted.

Everyone,
Thanx for the support. I can use it. It's a very nerve wracking time right now. Such a big undertaking and I am new to it. But, like Bob said, I'll have to jump in with both feet.

Talk to you all soon,
Russ

Forgot, I'm using two Mag 9.5's One for the Lifereef Skimmer and one for the return pump. Hope the return is sufficient. Anyone have any experience with this one?

The documentation I received with my CLF1 system was to use the MAG 950 for the Protein Skimmer and the MAG 7 for the return pump. Those were the two pumps that came with mine.
I think if you have two 950's you should be in VERY good shape IMHO.

you can have him drill the hole lower and just use an elbow with the bulkhead to put it up to the surface of the water, thats how i have my 20 fuge works well.

Is there a local LFS that sells 20gal tanks drilled? I am looking for something along those lines for my fuge too.

That is good news. If my 15 doesn't survive the surgery I'll have to pay a visit to Fish Barn. Hope not though.

Ok, here's the poop. I picked up the 15h, drilled nice with a 2" hole for the bulkhead. He polished the circumference, no sharp burrs. BUT, he used anti-freeze as a lubricant :eek2:

Talk about going from jubilant to horrified in a nanosecond!!

I posted a thread on Dr. Randy's forum. He gave me directions on how to salvage the fuge.
1-Warm water & soap
2-rinse thoroughly with clean water
3-vinegar or muriatic acid rinse
4-thoroughly flush and rinse again with water

Says it should be ok by then.
Hope the Dr. is right.
