wow! how long were they sitting? looks like they were sitting in salt water!! my friend keeps a bunch of chevy stuff in a barn and he never really has any problems. the only thing he does diferently is he wraps them in plastic. sorry to here about your loss. you may be able to save some of the stuff if you have them acid dipped and bead blasted.

i had them sitting a few years in my garage
its a sealed garage i shouldnt need to put anything over them
they were in working order
it smells so bad in my garage now mold is growing
i have nowhere to store the good stuff
i have my other garage packed also

moisture will still get into a "sealed" garage, trust me. i mean if you saw my friend's parts barn, you'd laugh. I'd put plastic on your stuff before it gets any worse. maybe it's time for an Ebay blowout? :)

i had a flood this summer the upstairs is leaking
i told my landloard 3 years about a small leak
which turned into a very big leak this summer
i found out this week that there wasnt even a roof on one
of the building above me
i have a set of 4 worth $1500 which are junk

you may be able to get them fixed. there are places that specialize in repairing rims. I would check them out before you just count them as a loss. My friend works at a body shop and they got a new corvette in. One of the rims was bent and cracked. he sent it out and had it refinished for something like $100 and he said you couldn't even tell the repaired one from the new one. then he sold it on Ebay. i know there is a place in Allentown that does it. check around. i know it's a pain, but atleast maybe you can salvage something out of it.

Man, that's a shame.... Heartbreaking to see those pics.... Good luck and I hope you win, but some of that stuff is irreplaceable....

i thought my basement was bad and damaging things. You are the auto person and I'm sure you know if you can get them cleaned or no so I can't suggest much with autos and auto parts and how to get them cleaned. Do you think is cleanable? or do you think they are junks now?

You should be able to salvage the tri power setups pretty easily there are tons of shops that do nothing but restore old intakes and carbs.
I'm not saying your at fault completely but a judge is going to ask you why you stored such valuable parts on a concrete floor, even stored on a bench they will start to rust unless you protect them.
Concrete is very porus and even a change in temp and humidity can cause moisture to seep out of concrete and cause stuff to rust, that's why basemants are always damp unless they are sealed with waterproof epoxy or something similar like dryloc.
Sorry about the rest of your stuff but the intakes/carbs are easily repaired/restored.

this wasnt caused by dampness this was caused buy the garage leaking above me it first started as a small leak got bigger bigger and bigger i kept complaining and they didnt do anything about it
i sent a couple letters and i just found out there wasnt a roof on part of the building so they knew there was going to be a problem i just thoght it was a leak by my door
see the water in the case
also it should of only cost me a 100 bucks to rebuild the carbs
now it would cost me a grand because the throttle bodys are froze solid i had a brand new pair of 440 popup pistons
ruined they rusted and pitted the pistons you cant even buy these pistons anymore

Don't just stop paying the rent. You'll need to get a lawyer and put the money in an escrow account. You'll also need to have your lawyer notify your land lord that you are putting the money into an escrow account pending settlement of the case. If you just stop paying rent, the land lord can evict you for non-payment of rent.

Btw, that hole looks like fire damage. Any chance the damage was done by the fire dept.? How did it get there?

Don't feel too bad. I once had a '66 Triumph TR-4A IRS that was hauled to the dump by a dairy farmer. I was never able to recoup any damages.

not tryin to be a ***** but if you know all this stuff about the water leaks and the wood rottting away and everything why the heck didn't ya go and check to see if all your belongings were ok. If you had just caught it at the beginning stages you would stand a better chance in court now I think they are gonna find some neglect on your part also.

Hmm... I'd get a second opinion.

i moved as much as i could to spots where the water wasn't coming in and moved the rest to my other garage i did check my stuff it was in great shape. started with a small leak
In the front by the door wasn't doing any damage then this summer with the constant rain it flooded my whole garage in one day.
it went from a small leak to completely flooding my garage
if i known it leaked that bad i would of took all the stuff out of the garage but the problem with that is i had no where to put it
thats why i rented the garage in the first place to store my stuff
so it wouldn't get ruined my landlord knew there was a water problem the guy upstairs has all his stuff ruined he doesn't want to get involved because he is afraid the might find a way to evict him

ah ok thanks for the further explanation I was just a little confused on how it all happened
