Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 8th! We will be holding our November Meeting at the Dallas Aquarium in Fair Park’s Education Building located just East of the Aquarium.
The purpose of this event is twofold. First, it is hoped it will increase awareness in both the DFWMAS and the Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park. Secondly, encouragement of local hobbyists to partake in the sharing of captively propagated livestock is consistent with the club’s position of enjoying our hobby while reducing ecological impact on the world’s oceans. An ancillary benefit is that participation in events like this is just plain fun!
As a special bonus at this years swap, Eric Borneman will be coming up from Houston. Eric is the Author of the widely acclaimed book “Aquarium Corals� and will be signing copies at the swap. Copies of his book will be available for sale at discounted prices and any profits will benefit the DFWMAS. Eric will also be available during the meeting to answer any questions that you might have about corals as well.
If that wasn’t enough, the BOD has authorized buying $500 wholesale value of coral and clams for the raffle, so bring some cash to buy some tickets for what promises to be the best raffle ever in DFWMAS history.
The general overview of the swap is to provide a meeting ground for local hobbyists to come, meet and trade captively propagated livestock and aquaria related equipment. It is important to note, that this event is limited to hobbyists only, and will not be used as a commercial outlet for retailers. The club intends to generate funds to assist in meeting its operating budget via a raffle held midway through the swap. Local hobbyists and the DFWMAS will provide raffle prizes, with proceeds being split between the DFWMAS and the Dallas Aquarium at Fair Park. Below is a Tentative Schedule. If anything changes, we will send out a notification and post it on the club online forum.
