I was wondering how a clown and host anenome would fare in a 50g with a mantis. Guy at LFS thinks it would be alright, he thinks if I put the anenome up higher in the tank the mantis wouldnt bother it. But if that clown ever wandered down in the tank would he be a gonner?

hi funktree

ive kept a mantis and a anenome ( radianthus ) and i had no problems with it, never had a clown with it though. it might depend on the mantis but mine caught and smashed a blue chromis pretty easily and my chromis was a heck of alot faster than the clown i used to own.

in a 50g and if you keep the anenome high and away from the mantis it might be ok as long as the clown stick near the host anenome and doesnt stray to much.
but then youve gotta keep the anenome away from the mantis which isnt the easiest thing to do ( darn things always move ).

why not just divide the tank and keep both? or better yet 2 mantis?

would a clown be territorial against a mantis and have a go? i hope not or i reckon its bye bye clowny.
