Ive heard that anenomes dont live long in captivity. What exactly does that mean?

Well,

What that means is that most of the times, the aquarist is unable to provide the anemone with all the necessary environmental factors for living a long time.

Another factor is that sometimes anemones are damaged while they are collected and since they have such a slow metabolism, one does not see the negative results until a few months later once the anemone is in our tanks.

In the wild, anemones can live for over a hundred years.

HTH,

Carlos

Anemones have no old age or senescence. They do not age with time like we do. They are basically immortal, and live until a disease, predator, etc. finally kills them. In the wild, they can live for over 500 years.

This should be enough incentive to give them the best conditions possible. MH lighting, pristine water, food, and a clown or two are required IMO.

thanks, I already decided not to get one yet. I dont have much for lighting right now, and as a beginner water quality comes and goes a little bit.
