I know someone who can get a group order together of bi-ionic at a real good price. Is there anyone who wants to go in on some. I will be getting the 8 gal set thats 2 - 5 gal buckets. Price depends on number ordered. They can also get the smaller sizes if needed. Let me know..... e- mail would be best. seaham358@aol.com
They can get most other EVS items

Lets see!!!!! 5 gal not filled all the way, then you add required amount of ro/di water then Poof :eek1: you have 5 gal of bi-ionic
Could be wrong that is what he told me 5 gal buckets. They might a have a 10 gal size also I told him we wanted the biggest they sold.

I might want to also, gotta see the prices though. DI Resin would also be good to go in on. I know you brought that up before Bob. I am running out.

Di resin would be a good order...... Casino kid is checking to see if ESV will let us pick the stuff up in the city this will save big $ on the shipping. So for right now we are in a holding pattern till they get back to him.

Just wondering why everyone is stressed over the cost of DI cartridges? Do you all go through them that fast? How much are you actually saving by making your own? Again, just wondering:cool:

Ya I go through them that fast about every 2-3 months depending on how much water I make I replace 1 and a month later the second. When your water has a lot of iron and what ever else in it. I don't like it but I have no choice right now. $23 at Eds and bulk resin that you can make up to 30 cartridges they say for around $140 the last time I checked. This is why I want a bulk order of resin.
I will say that the Kold-steril unit is working out pretty good so far in my 55 fowlr. Have only used around 20 gal as top off so far with no noticeable difference. I have more algae on the tank wall but the tank is maturing. My ember blennie is not minding the extra algae because that is all he will eat.

My tap water from a TDS standpoint is terrible it ia in the 800 range, so I go thru DI every month. Paying $23 per month is getting old quick, so I would not mind a bulk order.

As for the B-Ionic, I think that I am good for now, I bought the 1 gallon set 3 months ago and have not used half of it yet.

ESV's Oolithic reef sand is very fine and white too. If you don't have Southdown it's good stuff.

I go through a fair amount of DI carts myself. Unfortunately I pay even more for them (over 30 a pop) because I get the high silicate removal ones. Silicates are a big problem in my tap.

Ok fellow HVreefers.org members......here's my stupid block of questions for the day......What the heck is B-Ionic? Do I need any? Why do I need it? Where do I need it? When do I need it? Who do I need it? What do I need it? That covers all the 5 W's.

TIA,
Russ

Hi Russ,

B-Ionic is the original and most popular of the two-part liquid additives for maintaining the levels and balance of alkalinity and calcium in a reef tank. Unless you plan on setting up a tank with all low-calcium need animals, then you will need to dose kalkwasser, dose B-Ionic (or equivalent like C-Balance or Kent a+b) or use a calcium reactor. The two-part solutions are the most expensive options long term, but are easy to use.

Thanx Tom,
I think I know part of the problem with my understanding this. This thread took some very major detours and confused the heck out of me.
So what are good prices for this B-ionic? Is this offer a good deal?

Thanx again,
Russ
