Steve, just wanted to thank you for the "Ich" article. Very interesting and thought provoking reading.
I had not heard of the "two Q-tank" method of treatment and it got me to thinking. IYO if a newly purchased fish was moved back and forth between two Q-tanks every three days for a 12 day period, with empty tank sanitized in-between, would it be a reliable method of eliminating any reasonable chance of that fish carrying ich into the main tank?

The method you described is called the tank transfer method and was desrbied by Angelo Colorni in his paper, "Biology of Cryptocaryon irritans and strategies for its control" in the journal Aquaculture 67: 236-237. It is very simple and is what the daily water change method I outlined in part one of my series is likely based upon.
