Help!!!!....parasites....I think

Hi People,

I have noticed a whole slew of white elongated pods (they look like grains of rice standing up) that are growing all over my tank.

They seem to attach themselves to rocks with fine treads, grow to about almost quarter inch long with some kind of opening at the end. It looks like almost a mouth with no teeth or anything, just an opening. They are kind of fuzzy and are white. What are these?

Any ideas what they are and if so, are they dangerous to my fish, benefial etc. Are there any natural enemies to control them, i.e. shrimp etc?

Sounds like it could be hydroids. If these ones were detrimental to your tank you would already be observing problems...so these are most likely benign and need not be worried about. Just another neet life form to watch ;)
