I'm just curious as to what constitutes a Nano Reef.......My tank is only 30 gallons, is that a nano reef or is it just a reef???

I always wonder how small a tank would be before it is considered a Nano-Reef......

Thanks...

Hi Tim,
I'll refer you to a thread way at the bottom of this section called "What exactly makes a nano reef??" There was a small discussion there.

Generally, and this is totally my subjective opinion mind you, I see anything under 20 gallons a nano reef. The 2 1/2 gallon tanks are really nano and you gotta give the folks who keep these tiny tank their propers for even trying it! :o

HiHo
I always thought 20gals or less was a mini and under 10gals was a nano.

You're so right and it makes intuitive sense too. I've also heard that any reef tank, no matter what size it is, can be called a mini reef. In any case, I think the distinction of anything under 10g is a nano and from 10g up to 20g is a mini makes sense.
