Bytor looks like a deer in the headlights! (lol). I'm really glad it worked out for him. BTW, I never keep a hood on my computer and leave it running 24/7. That way the components stay warm and there is no condensation or salt problems.

Glad it's working out. If you found a CD in the burner, it's probably left over from when I used it last. I've done that trick before anyway.

Hey guys!

For those of you who stayed late while ByTor's computer was being finished, I have an update on the puppies. I got home at 11:50pm to find that the first puppy had been born 5 minutes before I got home. 3 more followed between midnight and 2:30am for a total of 4 baby miniature long-haired Dachshunds. 2 boys and 2 girls!

After playing "mid-wife", acclimating corals, and setting up my new lights I ended up going to bed at 4:30am. What a great day!!! Thanx again MO!!

Your inbox on RC, or your email? On RC there's a little box off to the right to check and then select "delete". I'm a little unclear (actually a lot unclear) about haveing 152, but only seeing 2. It may be that you have 152 items (in all your boxes - sent, in, tracking) with only 2 in your in box.

1st we gotta see from thomor (sorry if I misspelled your name) what card you have and its capabilities....

If you need to upgrade, I would just say go to wal-mart & get a xtacy everything card. We gotta see if you have an agp slot 1st... ok in your tower do you see all the white ports (about 3.5" long) that 'cards' go into ... like modems & such .... Is ther a brown or neon green one at the top of the rest? It will also not be in line with the others. It will be indented about an inch?

If you have that slot then the xtacy is a pretty cool little package. You can even watch tv & record it to your hard drive with it. It comes with a separate box you plug 'everything' into tv/camcorder etc... and it comes with a decent card, GeForce2 MX400. Not the best but better than what you need it for probably.

The 1 looks like an agp but it looks over further than they are on the boards I usually use (ECS). Were gonna have to wait for thormor to see what speed the slot is. Probably a 4x 8x is usually green.

what six meant by piggybacking was what you said.... putting both drives on the cable at the same time. Heres what you do....


1st unplug the computer before working on it :)
Look at the top of the drive. There will be a picture with 5 sets of dots with 2 either connected by a line or filled in a different color. The words slave, master, & single will be next to dhe pics. There is also 5 sets of prongs on the back of the HD. On the old hard drive put the jumper between the 2 prongs that say slave. On the new HD put them on the prongs that say master. Put the HDs in the computer. The IDE cable is the big thick cable that the HDs get hooked up to. Put the master at the end of the cable & the slave on the middle connector. Plug power onto the drives, plug computer back in & turn it on. Open windows explorer. There should he another HD listed. That is the old one. Just copy paste & move as you used to. And if you want you can keep the slave drive in there for extra storage.

thormor and his girlfriend were here last night untill 1:30am and he left to VA for the weekend to visit family and we worked on hooking my laptop to my celll phone and the cable when needed. It was sweet to check my emails in the car at the rest area. Plug and check. It is sweet because It will cost me $10 for 500 minutes. I use prepaid internet with verizon $10 for 500 and then my cell phone I got two thousand minutes plan night and weekends free. Cool..

Bytor,
How are you posting without a modem? Two computers? I have an extra modem if you need it, but since it is not NEW, it doesn't support the newest protocol (modem language) which came out fairly recently. It does support the one right before the newest version, so it's not a dinosaur, either. Dialups only go up to 56K, which is what this one is, but again it would be a bit slower than a new one. Then again, you can't beat the price of mine (g).

The brown one with the sticker is the agp slot, if you use your camcorder and it has firewire you'll need a firewire card, he doesn't need a new vid card. The vid card that is onboard shall do fine. We need to see if the connector he has on his camcorder is svid or firewire and then make sure he needs to get a card for it either an all in wonder or something that accepts video input.

I have Verzon Samsun 3100 and I have a plan with over 2000 minutes, nights and weekends free. I bought the followings:
Verizon prepaid internet
A cable to connect the phone to the USB and they had the software for free at Radion Shack
And then I was connected. Withe prepaid internet I get about 400 minutes for $10 and before you use them you can fill it while you are online with the credit card. It helps when I travel and for example i was in Niagra Falls this weekend and i was connected. Yesterday i was in NJ and i called a friend who told me to come and meet him somewhere and I asked him for the address and zip and I pulled the info out from the net at the rest area. My computer does not have an adaptor for the car but I do have a converter AC/DC that I use to plug TV and other stuff to when I travel with kids and I plug my phone charger, laptop to it too.

you have to check and see if they make cable for your phone to cennect it to the net and you might be able to do that.
