What did you use in your 120. Was it base rock? And do you think base rock will OK for the 90?

In my 120 I have about 40 lbs of Eddies rock, 60 lbs of uncured transshipped rock, and maybe about 10 lbs of base rock. I started the tank with the uncured rock and added everything else after the cycle was complete.

You can use base in the 90 depending on your goal. If you want the tank running as soon as possible, you should get cured rock. If you can wait longer, you can go with uncured rock or base rock, but will have to let the tank cycle.

If you use base rock, you can probably have the tank ready for fish in about the same time as with uncured rock, but you'll have to introduce an ammonia source like a dead shrimp to force the cycle to happen.

If you cycle with base rock, keep the lights off as much as possible since there's no coralline to fight off the microalgae that is likely to grow during a cycle.
