View Full Version : White Little animal in filter, what is that ?

Dear,
Today I see inside of my rock filter under the rock a lot of white animal. Their size 3mm until 5 mm. What is that ?
Are they can damage my aquarium system ? or give me some advantage ? they have many foot like shrimp. Please help me !!! What is that ? because their population until hundred. They have white colour. If can damage how to eliminate ?

do you have a better description thatn just white and small????
do they look like fleas, like shrimp, like bugs, antennea, legs, spongy, etc
Could be alot of things, many(okay all most off of which) are harmless and usually beneifical.
I am totally guessing here, but they might be copepods, or some type of 'pod.

Sorry, the critters like fleas. Their colour is white and a lot in my rock filter. They walking around on the rock and on the carbon. So, are they harmless or beneifical ??

YOU GOT PODS AND SHRIMP THEY ARE GOOD LEAVE THEM ALONE AND
FEED THEM!

Yep sounds like amphipods. Great detritivores, therefore benificial. Don't harm any corals or other inverts, therefore harmless. As they spawn some of the larvae will also become food for the reef. So sit back and enjoy :D
