Well, the best thing to do would be to try to persuade an LFS to get one for you. Most suppliers can get them but the LFS just dont bring them in. I have never ordered one online but there may be places the can ship you one. Someone else may chime in here if they know of anyplace online to get one.

IVE NEVER EVEN LOOKED ONLINE FOR A MANTIS SO I DONT KNOW WHO WOULD STOCK THEM OR IF ITS POSSIBLE TO SHIP WHERE I AM?.
ANY ANSWERS GUYS?
I JUST WENT TO ALL MY LOCAL LFS AND ASKED IF THEY COULD ORDER ME ONE.
MOST SAID THEY COULD, BUT IT WAS A BIT OF A WAIT BECAUSE THEIR COLLECTOR ARENT REALLY LOOKING FOR MANTIS SHRIMP MUCH AS THERE IS MORE MONEY IN COLLECTING CORALS AND FISH. ETC

I GOT MY 1ST ONE BY ASKING MY LOCAL LFS WHO HAPPENED TO HAVE ONE IN THERE DISPLAY TANK BY ACCIDENT ( NEW LIVEROCK ) AT THE TIME AND I PICKED IT UP FOR NOTHING.

I THINK YOU SHOULD JUST ASK YOUR LOCAL DEALERS AND SEE WHAT COMES UP.

IM SURE EVEYONE WOULD BE KEEN TO SEE SOME PICS WHEN YOU PICK ONE UP.

WHAT SIZE TANK ARE YOU GONNA KEEP IT IN?

GOOD LUCK!

I'll have to check with my LFS, but they'll probably try to charge me an arm and a leg for it.

I'm thinking of keeping him in a 12 gallon eclipse in my bedroom. After seeing a show about the Great Barrier Reef on the Discovery Channel, I decided that I want to get one. The more I research on them, the more intrigued I am.

My reef is doing great, but I need something in my bedroom.

Thanks for the advice.

My LFS currently has 1 of 5 remaining O. scyllarus mantis shrimp. They are olive, blue, red and purple females about 5" long. They are selling for about $35. If interested send me an e-mail and I will put you in touch with the LFS owner.

The shrimp looks just like the pic in my signature below. Click the text link for more pics.

You are in luck - I just caught one in my sump swimming around. Its about an inch and is basic brown/tan. I have it in a smaller tupperware container. I am not sure why it was out in the open and so easy to catch, but it appears healthy.

I'd ship it to you at cost.
