Re: coral vue lights
Hi David,

I ended up going with the 2-20ks and 1-10k in the middle and am just using my T-5s as dawn dusk. I think these will be very good bulbs as long as they last - still pretty new so have no idea of longevity yet. I sent a couple out to Griss to help me test them out as he uses some different ballasts than I have handy. The intensity and the color of both are better than the bulbs I was using previously (Ushio and XM). Yes, I know that they have a pretty wide variety of Kelvins although Coralvue only had the 6.5k, 10k, and 20k in stock. David from CV said that the 12&15 ks were pretty similar in appearance to the 20ks so he has not been stocking them although he would if someone wanted some. I have yet to try some of the 6.5ks and compare them to the Iwasaki I have lying around.

Would I buy them again...sure! As a matter of fact, I have several more coming in the 175w versions. The only problem I have ran accross is that some of the 250w-20ks will not fire on a probe start ballast as the ignitor was not touching the probe. I had the two in the pics that would fire on my probe start ballasts but another 5 that would not. They would fire fine on the electronic ballast since it would supply enough "juice" to arc from the ignitor to the probe. They will also fire fine on a pulse-start ballast as they would arc as well. I sent David@CV some e-mails regarding this and he hopes to have it taken care of in his next shipment or so as it is a simple manufacturing issue. All of the 10k bulbs I received had the ignitor touching the probe so they would fire on any ballast.

Dave,
When are you ordering. I think I may get two of the 55w PC bulbs. Can you get separate Act03 and 10K or are they combo units only?

Fliger-

Have you ordered these yet? I'm interested in ordering probably 3 of the 250w XM bulbs, wasn't sure if you were still waiting to place an order or not?

I'll probably be ordering in the next couple days...

Let me know

Hi Erin - I'll actually be ordering this week. Lemme know if you'd like me to get them, it's not a problem.

Fliger-

That would be great if you could order them. I've changed my mind on the type, though. I think I'm going to go with 2 of the 250w 10K Coralvue bulbs and 1 of the 250w 20K XM bulbs. Let me know if you want me to paypal the money over to you.

Thanks!

Cool, that's what I'm doing - coralvue. I'm going to get one XM just to test. Bluesman is also getting the coralvues, they appear to be really nice bulbs.

Dang it's Wednesday already, I'll get the order in tomorrow.

Hi Fliger-

Did you get the bulbs ordered?

Thanks-

David,

Are you ordering this directly from Coralvue? If so, do you think you can possibly ask for a spec sheet with the different bulbs? If not, that's fine. I saw some of the pictures posted on Justin's (saltshop) webpage and I was pretty impressed by the side by side comparison to the Ushio bulbs.

Fliger

Well the bulbs won't be in for about another week, PA can't order the bulbs until the end of the month. Our order is fulfilling the requirement to get the discount. Shipping will only be about $2/bulb, putting the coralvues at $47 shipped.

I hope these bulbs are as good as they look!

Mike, I'll ask if they can send spec sheets along with the bulbs.

So far I have: Erin, Blue, Clayton & myself. Anyone else, lemme know asap!

Thanks David. Those bulbs look very inexpensive (price, not quality-wise) compared to the other competitors for DE HQI.

Great, I didn't want to get in on this, but what the heck :)

I'll buy 2 20K DE HQI 250w bulbs.

Hey Mike - skeets mentioned you thought that the DE bulbs are Coralvue but they're not. They're the DE version of XM that have been on sale at hellolights for quite sometime. Not sure if this would make a difference to you, let me know asap. I'll need to call them Tuesday to cancel if you're not interested.

It looks like we made the minimum to get the discount on the Coralvues, I'll check tomorrow to confirm that, along with the delivery date.

Thanks for the FYI, David.

I don't think I want the XM bulbs, unfortunately. I hope it's not too much trouble to cancel my portion of the order. If so, PM me and we'll figure something out, since I don't want you to be stuck with the bulbs.

No problem, DE bulbs are cancelled. If anyone ordering would like some dry goods (smaller) they can probably be shipped at no extra charge. Right now shipping is $16 - it will probably remain $16 even with a few other things. LMK asap - I'm adding a few things today.

The Coralvues won't arrive to PA until next Wednesday. They'll ship as SOON as they arrive. So if you'd like to pick anything else up, you can still add it. Just nothing heavy.

Well that's a bummer!!! I guess I'll work on my stand's skin panels. It's OK I have a 250w MH over one side of the tank for now. I'm just about done with the wife's seahorse tank, tank is built and skinned/painted. The sump is in (ended up using an 20g tank),plumbing is completed. I will pick up 30g T tank from muzzlefuzz tomorrow and then add water. Let me know when the bulbs arrive, thanks again David! Blue

RORG-20K-400XM 400W XM 20K MOGULE HALIDE BULB $59.00

can anyone get in on the order? I am from Buffalo Ny..... And looking to buy the xm's but at 59.00 each It would be a good deal since most places online are around 70-75 each plus shipping... and I need 5 of them....

Fliger

Blue, I'll definitely drop off your stuff personally to see your new set-up!

Loudz34 - call Premium Aquatics & see if they'll extend the deal to you since it ended in August. I'm betting they will, they're pretty cool about that stuff. Good luck!

Have a nice weekend everyone!

Fliger, Well that's mighty nice of you. I know the last time you were here I had to rush out. Hopefully by then I'll have the stand skin on and VHO's installed. Thanks again David. Blue

Well these shipped today, there might be an extra 250W XM bulb left if anyone is interested. It would be $55.

I spoke with one guy & got an email from another guy from Premium Aquatics & they were very impressed with the Coralvue bulbs. Said they were "bright as sh*t, brigher than Ushio". Killer.

www.inreef.com has all those at better prices and no powerbuys needed

Fliger

Actually the premium aquatics prices are better (with one exception) but it was a one time deal. Those regular prices at inreef are the best I've seen, thanks for the link.

Fliger, I might buy that extra 250w bulb. I'll have to wait and see if the CoralVues will light on Reefmaiden's ballast first. I have other news too....see my post! Blue

I have bought from them and they are cool

Bulbs are in, bulbs are BRIGHT. I hope the spectrum on these Coralvues last, they are awesome. The best 10,000K's I've used for color - very crisp white. The XM's are more blue than the Radium but I think it takes a little bit of time to burn in.

I can deliver to Norm & Blue on Thursday & Friday. Can't remember who all ordered. CP, I might be able to drop off tomorrow or you can stop by on Thursday night or next week.

There is one extra XM 250W - if anyone is interested just lemme know otherwise I will take it. I think shipping was $2/bulb.

Hey Dave,

Is the XM a 20K or 10K? If its 20K I may be interested.
