Do mushrooms in general have the same lighting and water movement requirments? One of the resons I ask is that during a week or so period when my MH wasn't on (another story) the tank was lit only by my actinics. The mushrooms actually looked like mushrooms then ,everyone standing up. Then I refired up the MH and they all laid back down.

In general I think shrooms like lower water flow and not as intense light. I keep mines under MH but on or near the sand bed and they seem to do good. Most of the time when they kinda of "cup up" on you I think it is due to them feeding? I think? Mines seems to do this a couple time a week, mostly in the morning before the halides come on especially when I feed the tank. But laying down flat is the normal position for them.

Thanks, I might move them down abit as they are mid tank now and in pretty healthy current.

Yupp that might be a good idea, in general you don't want them "swaying" too much in the current.
Good luck with them, they are some of my favorite corals and relatively easy to keep, in fact, given the right conditions, they can overrun a tank. But I like 'em so I just let mines go WILD :D

I would do more research if I were you.
I read it recently but do not remember where, that they do this to get more light, as in reaching for it. This would be in line with them doing it only when they had only actinics over them, and themn going back down once they had more light.
Do not take this as fact, (as I am not sure of the source, and have no first hand experience) but I would look more into it.
If I find the source, I'll post it for you.
